Keep in mind you do not need a gay spin on these in order to post. I was hopeful that the two young lads finding each other would be affirming in that landscape. In this drama, an English farmer spends his time drinking a lot and engaging in unfulfilling sexual activity. When a migrant worker from Romania comes into his life, though, the two men embark on an intense relationship that will change both of their lives. It's a beautiful film, but understated and slow-paced so maybe not for everyone.
I suppose that's why I like 'A Single Man' so much, because Colin Firth is actually attractive. We are most strict about selfie posts being confined to the Monday thread. I really loved it though. We come together around shared interests like sports, technology, and media. When I watched the Youtube advertisement of this movie it seemed a metaphor for what my young friends are telling me. They report that all this is leaving them feeling very isolated. Their college friends are getting married and having kids, and are just not as available.
I can say I didn't find it depressing, speaking as a twenty something queer guy. Anyone else seen it yet? The film is about two farm workers in rural Yorkshire - it's not going to be a mirror for most lgbt people who watch it. They report that the economic environment precludes them living near boy's town and the gay part of town is disappearing in one city after another anyway. Though that student was a bit iffy. The film opened in October 2017 to largely positive reviews.
Young farmer Johnny Saxby numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker for lambing season ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path. I didn't really see it as being 'about' being gay - more about one guy's loneliness as you said and frustration at his situation and how someone else finally starts to break down that wall. Very well performed and has just about one of the most adorable scenes in a romance movie I've seen in a while and the best use of the word 'faggot' I've ever seen in anything. With gay movies, however, I find myself extremely superficial and won't watch unless the guys are at least moderately attractive. Isolated young sheep farmer Johnny Saxby numbs his daily frustrations with binge drinking and casual sex, until the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker Gheorghe, employed for the lambing season, ignites an intense relationship that sets Johnny on a new path. The social media is more conducive to promiscuous hookups, and not genuine society and romance. Whether it will depress people probably depends on whether they're cynical towards romantic storylines, and how realistic they deem the possibility of two people forming a genuine connection.
And I especially loved how despite it being about being gay, the movie didn't use gay-ness as a crutch for the conflict. Our subscribers have hosted social meet-ups all around the world. . The conflict came out of being lonely, you could replace the main two with a hetero duo and it would still be equally as emotional. . . .
