Ok, the grapple forks look like an awesome attachment for firewood, logs, brush, etc. After some searching I was able to find a 1999 ford 1720 with loader and hoe. Now when i split wood it goes right on the pallet and into it's place. Could anyone tell me what a 2000 model 1720 New Holland tractor with 50 hrs. I purchased the tractor with the intent of getting some much needed landscape done, snow removal and some firewood. My manual has New Holland all over it.
I am a little on the fence about this as I know there are no significant differences between the two however should I come to sell the tractor the age might be a factor Should I call the dealer and notify them of the mixup? What size fami winch should a tractor of this size have or should I opt for a 3pt grapple? Opinions are free, so here you go. Doing the math it only works out to 357 hrs a year, not all that much. Does yours have the shuttle shift? If i have the backhoe on my 1910 i do not ever need to use 4wd to load,but otherwise 4wd is needed a lot to load,especailly with turf tires. The 1320 uses 5 ft implements while the 1720 uses 6 ft stuff. I have heard lots of folks complaining about 1710's. After many years of looking for but never really being able to afford a tractor I was finally able to save up enough cash and justify the purchase of a tractor. Keep it in 2wd as much as possible to save the front end. Really, 5000 hours is not crazy high especially if he used it every day. I sold the 1320 to my dad and he still uses it regularly.
Has anyone used the clamp on forks, should I spend the money on converting it to skid-steer attachment? I pick up pallets of wood. Part of my reason posting this is to find out if I could speak with the original owner to get some history on the tractor. When I'm ready to burn I put the whole pallet either in the garage or next to the window if i'm using the stove upstairs. I drilled off the linings of the new disk, and the linings off the old disk. I should have phrased it differently, 5000 for a 1999 compact tractor is high. My Ford dealer told me the bendix is not available seperately, only as a complete unit on a new starter. It has been garaged keep. It hasn't been back to the dealer since it was bought and it's about 12 years old I think. Part of me feels a little cheated to be honest.
