I just did a comparison video using far cry 3 if you would like to check it out. Although it should be said it's also the most complicated. I know it's a bit late but in case anyone else is reading this, I'd definitely recommend bandicam over fraps. Something which could be good to know is if you have a capture card already like Elgato. Or you can mute your commentary entirely if you want to use the gameplay footage for other videos. For more information and analysis on this specific test, the article is here: Great job, Bandicam! I've tried 2 recording softwares - Fraps and Bandicam. We believe that Fraps was the best game recorder for over 10 years.
Also from a quality standpoint from all the above recorders theres no difference other than framerate. Where fraps and dxtory uses pure software encoding. Bandicam supports almost all of Fraps' functions. Now my next problem is that I've tested some recording with bandicam. The easy to use navigation panels and simple user interface makes it really easy to use them.
The series would span over a few points with each post focusing on different aspects of the video making process. If you were to at least mention the bitrate of the resulting videos with each program, under particular settings, or just mention the end result in filesize and the length, that'd be cool. Meaning after recording you might notice that your voice is too quiet in comparison to in-game sounds, so you can raise your commentary volume levels without touching the in-game. Try it out and I hope it works well for you Your welcome. Any news of BattleRecorder yet? Audio quality: Audio in Action! People are now using Bandicam not only to record their gameplay but also to record their , , smartphone, etc. Warrock Bandicam Video Testing: I jusdt try out Bandicam. Slow servers and rubbish software.
I am contemplating buying it for our servers so I can get some footage together. I have recently finished a video comparing recordings from Bandicam Registered , Dxtory Trial Verison , Fraps Registered and Playclaw Trial Version. Going to try dxstory out Does anyone know of any good programs for title sequences? And the file sizes are impressive. Secondly, you're not mentioning recording resolution at all. I thought for sure here Fraps would be a clear winner with the raw video data, boy was I wrong.
Better than Fraps People are now using not only to record their gameplay but also to record their , , smartphone, etc. First off, my system specs, because I think that is paramount when making the choice between to two. Just recorded an hour with Mirillis Action and it was 85. Resulting video playback performance: Videos in Bandicam don't get as high of bitrates on the resulting files with Fraps and play back fine in most media players but Windows media player still crushes whites and blacks. Alright, back to the discussion about the software. If you want the file size smaller set the Frame Rate to 30. It is commonly used to determine a computer's performance with a game, as well as record gaming footage.
Slow servers and rubbish software. Yeah i 100% agree with ya. This is a comparison of the 4 most popular recording softwares, I will be comparing video quality, audio quality, performance and resulting performance what I mean by this is how well the video plays back on multiple different media players to make sure that its not the media player not playing it back good. Resulting video playback performance: Perfect and no crushed whites or blacks, I should have mentioned this earlier in the essay that the higher the bitrate of the video file the more crashed the blacks and whites get which results in even darker playback on Windows media player I don't know why Windows media player does this, I think this is a way to compensate for the high bitrate to play the video at full speed so it ignores the blacks and whites to go faster , Action! Also, to the person who mentioned seperate audio tracks, bandicam also allows that, it's inside of the video settings when you select the secondary audio source, there's a box you can tick to record seperate wav files for each source. You can even add titles to the videos in Camtasia, but you certainly cannot add them in the case of the other two video editing systems.
I am using Adobe Premiere and it's a bit clumsy for title sets and what have you. For Skype recording you may have to go with Bandicam but it depends on how Skype renders the video. Dxtory - Big bitrates but smaller than Fraps. Oh, and Bandicam offers support in English, which is great. More in-depth about the first three: Dxtory - High quality, low impact recorder with great controls and the option for using external encoders.
I'm kinda split between Bandicam and Xsplit, and I'm not sure which I should go with. It has reasonable control and allows you to record screen areas rather than just applications or the desktop. It helps some but not much. This program makes it so you don't have to edit the footage. Also bandicam splits the audio tracks into. I was just putting it out there so people who want to know what software to use, doing this allows them to make their own decision of what they want and helps them choose.
Secondly, I would need to set it up for proper recording- for youtube 1080p while Bandicam has option only for 720p , does anyone know how do to it without too severe quality loss? Not only that, Fraps codec is prone to give problems with certain editing programs - while not a general problem, it's not uncommon for it to conflict with another codec, or get problems managing memory while decoding causing Sony Vegas and Premiere Pro to crash when rendering videos. Fraps really doesn't have any advantages over Dxtory, so I really can't recommend it to anyone anymore. It also captures after the frame buffer which means it has the absolute highest compatibility for recording. I can also play and record at 1280x720 if I wanted at 60fps so I dont need to worry about it, but for lowering bitrates then use your game at its default resolution minecraft in this case goes at 854x480. However, there are many software that allow you to record even real time games and that too without any previous knowledge about editing. This is why I bring up bandicam. Dxtory was confusing to use and had a lot of lag in the video.
