The failure and current mileages were 114,000. This will be the fourth transmission for this van. Honda customer service person Holly Mohammat just threatened to call Honda security on me if I continue to call them. It also makes this odd clicking noise inside the van. I can depend on it to get me wherever I needed or want to go. We were almost rear ended because of the decreasing speed. I am furious about this.
The dealer replaced it under warranty. A friend solved a harsh engagement problem by adding an additive to his high-mileage transmission a few years ago. This is the worst car I have owned in 45 years of driving. The problem was experienced before 100k miles. In 2003 and they have no failures. It does great on gas mileage. Do you know a lawyer that might be interested? I called a Honda dealer and made an appointment to have the trans.
The reason I bought Honda was because of their presumed relaibility. I at least expect 150K or 200K before it goes down. Besides I did get 177,000 miles out of my transmission she says. Their transmissions are bound to be better than anything Honda can provide. I also like that there are numerous vents in the back because I have three children in car seats and car seats can get quite warm especially here in sunny Southern California.
With 129K miles I thought that was very reasonable. It's been in the shop for 2 weeks now. Also, driver side visor had to be replaced, seat belt holder in rear of car had to have a new fastener replaced, and engine mount problems and transmission tolerances are not set correctly. It seems as though we are not allowed to complain about their inferior products. If I print out your explanation will my Honda mechanic understand it and do you think I could get him to do it? Now, just my luck my trans yet again needs to be replaced.
We had it reviewed during an oil change, but the mechanics could not duplicate the issue. You do not want to continue driving your vehicle if you have no or little transmission fluid. They replaced the original with their replacement at 101120 miles. That is a very nice feature. Have you heard of anything like that? Came back and gave me the same story: the warranty expired on the transmission.
And said they would replace it. Another common cause is worn engine mounts, particularly on front-wheel-drive vehicles with engines that sit sideways. We have had numerous problems with it. We stopped at the Honda Dealership. The front passenger seat is also heated. No matter what your warranty is, they should cover it to maintain their reputation.
Original review: June 21, 2018 My Honda Odyssey is a wonderful vehicle. When I did finally go into labor, I was about as comfortable as I could be in the passenger seat completely reclined. There are plenty of cup holders and many compartments for whatever you need. You could also smell it to see if it has a sweet smell. The transmission has never been fixed for the original defect with the recall in 05, if it had, I certainly would not be told by Honda that it needs it's 4th transmission.
I expect this tranny will die in the next few months. I called Japan the other night I am in the process of emailing them a complaint now. That is apply pressure on the clutches to engage them and push the various shift valves around to different positions. If not, my next car will be a Toyota. How about causing an accident or worse in the middle of the road and why didn't it take a nap in the parking lot before I pulled out in the multi lane street if I actually pressed both pedals which I did not.
Kicks in hard when putting in drive. This is no doubt a defect with these transmissions. I talked to Honda and initiallyt they said tough luck, you are out of warranty. Thought it should last much more than that. I had such good experience with them.
