We loved the sound and the look so much we did video clips. With manual mode selected, the automatic holds lower gears right up to the rev limiter, upshifting only when the driver desires. A modestly altered feature here, a sharper looking trim piece there, just enough that those in the know will know, but not enough to upset the proud owner who put together such a great deal on a 2005. Bottom line: The Nissan 350Z more than delivers on the promise of its stellar looks. Another thing to try would be to see if the Bose CenterPoint menu item has any effect. Nissan's Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System helps the V6 produce a nice, linear band of torque.
The new V6 offers ample torque at all revs and can capably run to the 6100 rpm redline. There is, however, a lockable in-cabin enclosure suitable for a laptop and two smaller enclosures behind the seats plus a centre console and in-dash box. The engine isn't the smoothest around, growling and bellowing at times but that probably adds to the sporty allure of the car. If you don't like this feature you can turn it off. Interior Features The Nissan 350Z cockpit is designed for driving, helping the driver quickly become one with the car.
The twin-outlet exhaust and air intake system are also designed to turn heads with a gruff note. You can program it for the ideal shift points for acceleration or for fuel economy, then let your peripheral vision pick up the indicator, which might prove more precise than using the seat of your pants. The driver is fronted by a large central tacho with a speedo, fuel level and coolant temp gauges shuffled to the sides. Clutch pedal effort has enough heft to remind the driver that this is a serious sports car. Wait till you see the cool power sealing windows that raise an extra 10mm only when you close the door shut. A space saver space can be dug up from beneath the false floor.
Order a version with the excellent five-speed automatic, and you'll have a commuter for the daily stop-and-go that will still leave a grin on your face after a quick run down a favorite racer road. On road performance and feel is sporty with superb acceleration available from the big V6. Conversations in almost normal tones with the top up had to be ratcheted up several notches with the top down. Or portable speakers that hold up during travel, yet sound and look great in your home. But telltale signs of chassis movement are the creaking from the windows when entering a steep driveway and some steering column chatter. Antilock brakes with Electronic Brake-force distribution and brake assist and traction control are standard. But we expect a firm ride with a sports car like this.
The six-speed gearbox shifts quickly and deliberately. So, if you are looking for something that hugs the road while traveling down it at lightning speed check out the Nissan 350Z Roadster, at your local dealer. The power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is about perfect for this type of vehicle — direct, nicely weighted and communicative. What do you think of it? In 2009, the Nissan 350Z is only available in the roadster edition. The last one I had before this 2018 was exactly the same package but with the new Dark Atmisohere interior option. The engine is still pulling smoothly as the rev limiter steps in at 7000 rpm with the manual and 6600 rpm with the automatic, but this engine is more about low-rpm torque than high-revving horsepower. Sharp steering, terrific handling, and excellent grip make it a real driver's car.
Overhead in the Coupe are well-designed map lights and a bin for sunglasses; in the Roadster, map lights beam out of the underside of the rearview mirror. Access can at times be challeng-ing. For top down driving, a neat perspex wind buffer sits between the seats so your hair isn't ruffled. The Nissan 350Z is a proper sports car with relatively compact dimensions, rear-wheel drive, two seats, sharp interactive handling, and muscular engine, at an affordable price.
It's hard to imagine using up all that grip, save for a competitive event or an emergency maneuver. Unless otherwise indicated, specifications refer to test vehicle. This changes for 2007, when Nissan will certify the automatics with the more powerful engine. We believe that the power of sound is for everyone. Handling feels taut and well controlled in both hatchback and Roadster, and the latter experiences very little of the dreaded cowl shake common in lesser conversion convertibles. Likewise, the large expanse of gray material lining the door panels suggests carbon fiber in appearance. An all-new shock absorber design soaks up ripples and bumps and keep all four tires firmly planted on the road. From my read of the manual, the effect would be subtle regardless!
