The part number on the box the replacement part came in computer, ballast, 85967-06020. I noticed there are a lot of places selling the part that went bad. I do not drop the hood from great heights. Of my concerns the safety issue of someone trying to replace this bulb, as if they were replacing a standard bulb, is the possibility of serious injury due to the high voltage in this bulb. I could have easily been hurt as the warning to avoid high voltage is not easily seen. I purchased a new light bulb and installed it.
I find it hard to believe a part in put into a vehicle to control a light bulb that doesn't last longer than the bulb. I tested the original passenger side bulb in the drivers side fixture and the bulb functioned properly. It is not unlikely an owner trying to figure out why the bulb worked in one fixture and not the other would touch the fixture with the headlight turned on. I recently heard Volkswagen was recalling over 15,000 vehicles due to a bad light fixture. The headlight did not function.
I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer and after their inspection, they determined the computer light control had quit functioning. . I was told the computer boosts the voltage and if the bulb fixture is touched while the lights are under power could result in death. I checked the fuses and found all were in proper order. . . .
