Searching diligently, I did find a trivial flaw: the left-front floor mat that had torn free of its attachments to foul the clutch pedal at the bottom of its travel. The convertible offers a reasonable cargo hold when the hardtop is up, but predictably shrinks considerably when the top is lowered. If all-out punch is what you want, the 335i delivers more of it at any speed than its competitors.
Folding rear seats are optional in the 3 Series sedan but standard in the coupe, wagon and convertible. The car is splendid; it has ample power, a silky smooth six-speed manual transmission, and a chassis that is sublime on curvy roads, although damping is too harsh over rough pavement.
