The diagram is on the top cover that you remove to access the fuses. There is a plastic door over it. Pry and release the two bottom clips, pull out the instrument cluster and disconnect its electrical connectors. It was hidden behind alittle flip out door it has a container just big enough to hold aset of keys or small wallet to the left of the steering wheel.

Your going to have to get on your back with a flashlight and open up the fuse box under the dash by the steering wheel. Unscrew and remove the kick panels near the corners of the door frame. Not totally positive but I believe on your Toyota there are two places that fuses are located. Pull the plastic panel out to separate it from the rest of the dash. Pry the bezel off its clips with your trim stick or screwdriver to remove it.
Nov 01, 2008 i have a 97 corolla as well, and i've changed the radio out several times on my own. The lid of the fuse box shows the positions of the fuse and their amperage rating. There is a spare 15 Amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood easy to get to, see the diagrams in the owner's manual. I can confirm the tweeters are wired together with the front speakers. Now it's time to remove the second lower bolt. I assume that all the Corollas of this era have the six speaker system installed in them but are the two tweeters sitting near the top of the dash wired in conjunction with the two main front speakers. Remove the three screws from the underside of the glovebox.
