It's a dark brooding tale which promises from the start that the light you see at the end of the tunnel is actually an oncoming train. As Cobb pressures Jake into using the final wish to reunite Cobb with his son, his intimidation quickly escalates into relentless murder-- forcing Jake to outwit his psychotic friend and save his remaining loved ones. However, the money comes in the form of compensation for the death of his son who had an accident at his place of work. He throws the paw in the fire. .
The Monkey's Paw was written in 1902 by W. This story usually ended at the death sequence, but director Ruggles decided to go for the hackneyed dream ending. On the second day, he awakens to find that his son is alive and that he had dreamed the previous day's events.
