It is very basic, hardly any functionality, no album art, no folder reading, just bare bones play a song. I'd say the extrusion is roughly the same as the pictures on this thread shows. Black is such a hard colour to keep clean Yeah I may pop down to the WestEndDubs meet as well, but I'm not modified lol Which exhaust do you have on yours? Anyway you mentioned Hong Kong so I'm guessing he lives there. I've setup my phone to automatically tether internet to the unit when I start the car, but I'm using Nokia Here so that I can have downloaded offline maps. I'm assuming you have an iPhone.
Huge possibility of it being a hassle to use, but im young and willing to deal with such things. Looks stock, and will do everything most people want from a radio. If you need the wireless one, please send a note us after placing order. Android via usb charging cable and wifi can be mirrored. Also the fault part of it doesn't seem to work on Mk5's for some reason. The default rearview camera is wired. You can use whatever Nav software you want, however Google Maps requires an active internet connection, as does Waze.
Any more questions please feel free to contact by We tested 5 times to make sure the head unit in good conditions before ship. Look forward to hearing and seeing it soon then - any video clips of it? Does anyone have any experience with something like? I will try and get it installed soon when I have the time. I did not disconnect them as I was just tapping into the speaker wires for a line converter. Thanks, by the voice control I was just hoping to have it use the phones voice control just to call people and such system not some built in one as if its the phone I know it just works no stuffing around. Caution: Make sure to do your research before modifying your car.
Some great advice there paradigm. Sorry for the slow replies, I'm not getting notified when people reply. It currently supports android phones and iPhone. Follow up here, Got the deck put in today at visions electronics. From standby, it boots instantly. The antenna cables were a little off, factory has 2 plugs, while this one has 1 plug with 2 connectors.
Everything else was just plug 'n' play. But I'm not sure of my audio plans just yet. The only thing I would like is Bluetooth for calls I'm not a big fan of Bluetooth sound quality for music. Hi Guys, came across this thread as i was going to ask the same question - I have a gold mk6 59 plate which has the standard unit installed and i would like to upgrade mine however there are so many different make and models out there which is very confusing. Check out the thread I posted above for details on the install.
You are right that the Here app works wonderfully offline and allows for address look ups offline. Needs a data connection, but this is pretty impressive. Like Wombar - I'm still very happy with it considering the minor limitations and the price I've paid. Still need to do some research to see if it can be eliminated through some hardware tweaks, shielding, or maybe grounding. That's probably the only extra cost really though, other than actual unit price differences.
Fakra to din and Fakra to din active I wasn't happy with the radio signal, in fact sitting on my drive in wigan I could only find a couple of channels, I decided to opt for the celsus twin fakra with diversity and what can I say apart from hello radio stations now don't get me wrong this still isn't as good as the original unit but having at least a dozen stations to chose from including a welsh station lol I suppose I can't complain. Thanks for any help it is appreciated Matt Matt, there is a lot of info out there on this. The wire is thin and easy to hide. How well it works is anyones guess. Should hopefully be decent enough weather for it, let's hope my car stays clean from it's weekend wash! Would love to hear other suggestions that might be more car friendly. Sorry, didn't grab any pics of the install, but its straight forward enough once you get in there. I didn't need to solder a single wire.
Also picked one of these 9045 units for around 280 quid and for the price, I'm rather pleased with it. Cut the wire where its marked. Radio antenna sounds great, overall sounds better than stock! The majority of them are all built by the same company and then resold by various 3rd parties with minor tweaks and changes to the software. It will make your driving safer. Obviously it needs Bluetooth and I'm just wondering if it uses the head unit Bluetooth chip? Contacts inside the Bluetooth app - for some reason, all my phone book contacts are showing up as SurnameFirstname instead of Firstname Surname. The negatives still bother me a bit and I wish the screen was brighter after putting an antiglare screen protector on it, but its a solid device and I'd recommend it if you can deal with a few quirks.
The only thing is that you will not get the sat nav directions on the highline instrument cluster, this is because the sat nav app will be a standalone app and has no way of communicating it's directions to the instrument cluster. If anyone else has more info, I'm all ears. There are also ways to remap the buttons. Radio - I would say it's it's passable but not brilliant. The reviews for them are sparce.
Thank you, I contemplated a tablet install, but this was cheap enough, and fits perfectly, it also does everything I need and a bit more too lol, it's got built in wifi and dedicated usb for gprs, separate usb for memory stick, 2 sd card slots one for sat nav and one for music, video and files, I can check work emails, watch tv not installed dvb yet but not expecting a great signal , dvd, sat nav, general google play stuff, reverse camera again not fitted, forward camera to record to internal memory, bluetooth oh and maybe even radio when I get the fakra connection Ok decided the fm signal is shoot using a fakra to din cable so do i: A get a twin fakra diversity cable not the cheap ones off eBay B get an internal amplified windscreen aerial C replace existing aerial with an amplified one If I go with the latter how easy is it to access on the mk5 golf? You could be looking at potentially spending a couple hundred quid to get a touch screen and 3D maps. Reflections and sun wash-out - I get this as well. Would be good having all of that on the head unit It should work direct to the head unit with one of these To be honest I don't really know what it is, just know it says it is compatible Looking good mate. But I'm not sure of my audio plans just yet. I lost the link, but if I find it again I'll post it. I'm a little concerned there's no fan on the back for cooling, but hopefully that won't cause any major issues.
