Engine oil filter housing gasket - leaking. Oil cap leaks oil as well. I stopped driving it and thankfully sold it shortly after. After years of having to settle for the 'family' car I made the decision to have my mid-life crisis car and have never regretted it! Just throwing money at it, but - hey - joy is priceless, right? I also looked under the oil cap and it was all white. The only let down but a big one nevertheless.
Speaking of seats, on the comfort side for a 500 km highway cruise, for half the distance I already experience lower-back pains, and after a stop for refreshments, I already don't really feel like going back inside the car to finish the trip, knowing that driver's seat awaits me, grinning with an evil pain in store for my bones. The only real problems in the 115K miles I've had it are that the engine sometimes 'judders' on fierce acceleration I've read that this problem is the computer which drives the Turbo - expensive to fix, more probably than the car is worth and a smoky exhaust on, once again, fierce acceleration. The underneath is still pretty solid though. Care must be taken when closing doors however as they can loosen or crack the mechanisms. Still a good looking car and the soft top is still good.
Enjoying the slight kick when I press the gas pedal to the floor, the nose dives a little and seconds later the car accelerates forward with that racing sound roar of the engine. If bought from a dealer, I would definitely take action, as it is just not right to sell a car with a blown head gasket. I would suggest try to get one with Bluetooth and have phone connection so you can enjoy your favourite music. Would always get a lot of stares ; Factory Bose stereo was the best car stereo I ever heard. I will however, get a petrol car next time since the Minister Of Transport tipped us the wink. General Comments: Wow, this car was extremely fast and fun to drive with the V8 engine.
General Comments: It is not cheap to own, repair costs in labor and parts are expensive compared to the average car. Lots of electrics and booy space with top up and not too bad with it down for smaller items. I filled it completely and 5 days later the light came on again. Coolant was getting into the oil due to a blown head gasket. I looked at the oil from the dipstick and it didn't look right. I knew I was in trouble.
Drives fast enough, but the seats aren't for long cruises, which is a pity given that the car's strength is at highway speeds. I see older car with far less rust than mine, in fact none, and cars which probably also cost far less when bought new. Again I have done 45000 miles since got this car and still it is very strong engine I can still feel it is very powerful and got load of life in it. I bought this car to use for my work as it involve slot of tracks on client site. Gets 35mpg on long runs but only 20 mpg around town which doesn't matter any more because I only do short runs these days.
Doors don't close all too well unless slammed - I understand this is how all of them are right out of the factory. About 2 weeks after I bought the car, the check coolant level light came on. The bodywork is going to let it down long before the engine does. The car is available with both manual 4 versions , as well as automatic 9 versions gearbox. Has had the tin worm around the arches but had them seen to.
Car I gave use old Nokia to connect to car but ofcourse I am not using telephone as it required very old Nokia phone. In motor way I get 45. Shame about the rust though. Engine oil cooler gasket - leaking. Engine oil pressure port gasket - leaking. All rubber trims - gone plastic and crumbling.
It's an old car, with its problems and repair needs. Hydraulic fluid - leaks - suspect an o-ring. Recently, I' ve had to have the front discs replaced they were replaced 20K miles ago so this is slightly annoying but having researched the issue, this is not unknown and I am not sure whinging to the dealers will achieve anything. The doors close very gently with the slightest nudge. There were no leaks on the ground or anywhere. Crackling coming from one of the door speakers, and also the door speaker covers are very easy to break accidentally. I never regret getting this car I would never sell this car will be sad to see it going.
We enjoy the engineering and many safety and comfort features. On board computers make diagnostics simple and relatively inexpensive.
