If the car is parked on a driveway or road, it locks on okay but If I'm in a large parking lot, forget it. I turned engine on, went to the navigation menu and there it was on the screen the map of the neighborhood. Seriously, the Nav system is trash without live traffic. . When we found out the Navigation system comes standard in the Touring package, we said great. Hi to all, Yesterday driving the car, I saw that the navigation screen showed the compass and also altitude. It did this the whole way there, even going on a long straight on the interstate it would suddenly jump me off the road and took minutes to lock back on.
I just downloaded the update from and will soon give it a try, but it seems that samvoc tried it already and it didn't help. A few comments that might help? Will take it to the dealer and see how it goes. I was hoping it had to do something with my location, but it seems that it's a car issue. Hope this helps, keep posting so we can see what the solution was. A few comments that might help? If not make an appointment with your dealership and tell them you're having troubles with the gps and audio unit and they should update it. I've updated to the lastest maps and still the same issues.
The compass was ok, but altitude? Is anything in your car blocking its view to the sky? And there is no subscription option either. When my daughter got home, I installed with the engine off. Anyone having the same issues or know of a fix? Will be dropping it off to the dealer sometime this week. I put a address a couple of blocks away and the voice direct me with no problem. I drove about 10 or 15 miles to my doctors office this morning and the whole time the nav was showing me either 2 or 3 miles off the interstate or it was thinking I was on a different road completely. If you have a for-profit service,. I will keep you posted if any issue arise.

I am starting to think it is because the car is parked underground so when it first starts it doesn't lock into the satellites right away which keeps it frozen. It doesn't know where it is. At least compared to our portable Garmin. If everyone else can do it, why does Mazda choose not to. Nope, nothing blocking the view.
It was plug and play, so the card works fine in a 2017 sport. Then we found out why its free, because its does not integrate Live traffic. Update from Jun 14, 2016 : Spoke with Mazda, they are not going to add live traffic overlay to the Nav system. I understand the gps needs to lock onto at least 4 satellites in order to give accurate directions. Problem is, even with 4 or more satellites locked on, it has me a good ways off my path.
Basically the Nav feature is useless to use and we have to mount our phone so we can see Waze and reroute our route accordingly. Oh, I think I got it, one major difference between my portable Garmin and 2016 cx5 Nav is that Garmin never tries to navigate unless it reliably figures out my location. . . . .
