The modern buggies hold about 15 people, and the 40-minute ride is just exciting enough for adventurous families and senior folks like us. Wow what a great experience. One of West Michigan's premier attractions!! We had such a great time! Others had a 30 minute wait on the Friday morning we visited. Our tour guide was charming and funny. We also had a small stop right on the beach of Lake Michigan where they offered to take photos for you with your camera, you could walk around and enjoy the private section of the beach. We learned a lot about the creation and history of the dunes plus we got a chance to play on the beach during a brief break in the ride. State voids concerns Michigan responded with a shrug.
I would do it again in a heartbeat! Erin Argyilan, a geologist at Indiana University, was at the national park that day, studying wind speeds on Mount Baldy. At Silver Lake State Park in Mears, north of Muskegon, a tsunami of sand is slowly burying anything in its path. You pay and they write your name down. I don't think we'd do it again but it is something you have to experience once in your life. They give a military discount which makes me respect the company way more. We had a blast, and would recommend to anyone! We went twice this season, we always have a great time and shared it with two sets of friends with us. This ride was totally worth it! I came to Max Wood's with a group of 8 girlfriends, and we had the time of our lives. We ended up flying over dunes at a high rate of speed. Hoffmaster State Park near Muskegon for 28 years. The photos simply do not do the expanse of sand justice. While the ride is safe for babies, and the drivers do take that into account, I would recommend ages 3 and up for full enjoyment. He was funny and had a positive easy going attitude. Its like going for a roller coaster ride but in a truck.
Although we probably won't be back since we feel like this is one of those things you do once, we very much enjoyed our tour and the hospitality of the staff. The Tour The tour was incredible. The sand and sand dunes along Lake Michigan are my favorite beaches in the world. They are the only company with vehicles in this area of the dunes. The 200-foot dune has engulfed one cottage and threatens another, which has an excavator in the yard.
