What's the meaning of that? Beyond thinking about girls - most specifically their neighbor Bianca, who preoccupies her time in her own unusual way - Leo does whatever he can to make sense of his life. However, it is impossible to evaluate good or bad before. Advertisement Directed by , a young nonconformist from Quebec, it tells the story of the young manhood of Leo, who grows up in an insanely dysfunctional but colorful and not altogether harmful family in Montreal. .
Always remember don't trust the opinion of Leolo 1992 on the Internet because the authors paid to write a comment. Leo despises his father, so much so that he has created a fantasy in which his mother was somehow impregnated by a tomato from Sicily, which bore the sperm of the man he imagines was his real father. Leolo is a self-raised boy his mother's maternalism is as misguided as it is smothering , aware of the family curse, and also clever at keeping his own secrets within the claustrophobic household. Leo insists he is therefore Italian, and should be called Leolo. He is a fully formed, difficult, complicated individual, who sees himself clearly, sees through his family, and uses fantasy as an escape and a tonic. The boy, Léolo, finds his family so difficult to deal with that he escapes into dreams, fantasy, and writing. They are all either in the madhouse or headed that way.
A turkey and a rat live in the family bathtub the turkey invited, the rat not. You can write, Leolo 1992 is a good movie, but it can be is a bad movie. In Leo's mind, his family is not just eccentric - they're crazy. We see rats in the sink, rats in the bathtub. Devising a strange fantasy world where his mother Ginette Reno conceived him with an Italian tomato, Léo attempts to cope with his unsettling reality by retreating into his mind, with his meandering thoughts often drifting to his gorgeous neighbor, Bianca Giuditta Del Vecchio. The scene in which Leolo attempts to actually carry out his death plan, using perfectly understood principles of pulleys and levers but faulty craftsmanship, is one of the more astonishing I have seen.
Not one individual in the boy's life is well adjusted. A streak of madness runs, or more accurately gallops, through Leolo's family. The grandfather is a vile old codger who is conducting a mercenary relationship with the beautiful young neighbor who Leolo persists in thinking of as virginal, and someday destined to become his own. The rest of his time is fairly grim. He makes his films from scratch. Was it trying to create only mood however unpleasant , was it trying to convey a deep message however obscure , was it trying to show that there is squalor in modern Montreal however unsurprising? The story of an imaginative boy who pretends he is the child of a sperm-laden Sicilian tomato upon which his mother accidentally fell.
Synopsis 's highly praised film tells the strange story of Léolo, a young boy from Montréal. Leo Lozeau is a French-Canadian pre-teen living with his family in a working class inner city neighborhood of Montréal. Maybe understandably, most everyone in this family winds up going nuts or heading toward death. And what an inspiring thing it is to see a young boy having sex with a cat. I'm afraid the humor flew over my head.
I feel I must leave this life before the rip becomes a noose. Leolo has a way he can dream, and in his dreams he is visited by his muse. I felt like taking a shower after watching this movie. The structure of the film is another amazement, gradually revealing itself, so that the more we know about how and why the story is being told, the more poignant it becomes. It is believed in his household that a bowel movement a day keeps the doctor away, and so he spends long hours locked in the toilet, making convincing sound effects to cover his other activities, which include reading naughty Parisian magazines, and plotting the murder of his grandfather.
In one scene, that I assume is to have some special meaning, we see at some length a filthy turkey in the bathtub. This is the same man who once, visiting Leolo's vast and awesomely maternal mother, stopped the kitchen table from tilting by placing an old book under one of the legs - which is how the only book in Leolo's house got there. I have never seen one like it before. His sister Rita is indeed institutionalized. Day after day, without realizing I've slipped one toe more than the day before. And his grandfather, Albert, once tried to drown him.
Yet I remember it clearly after six years, perhaps because Lauzon's films contain images no other film would dare to show. Streaming full Leolo 1992 first, Once you can rate this movie. How there is broad burlesque, fanciful dreaming, seamy sex, dire poverty, hope for the future, despair. It will remind you that movies can be wonderful. If you see dark humor in this, then you may like this movie. I felt alive when I was watching it. He has only scorn for surefire box-office formulas.
Tomorrow, it'll be my whole foot, then, my leg, and soon, my entire body. Told from Léolo's point-of-view, the film depicts his family of lunatics and Léolo's attempts to deal with them. His parents are obsessed with everyone in the family having regular bowel movements, even to the point of feeding them laxatives. » This is one of the few movies that left me mystified. But Leo doesn't see himself as being crazy like the rest.
The parents are obsessed with bodily functions - the father checks the boy's output after each visit to the toilet; all five children are forced to take laxatives. I have to give this movie credit for coming out of nowhere to give us something like we have never seen before, but that doesn't mean that we will like it. His slightly dim older brother Fernand is obsessed with weight-lifting, all stemming from being beaten up by a local bully when he was younger. The grandfather hires half-naked girls to bite off his toenails and, in a brutal rage. Why was this movie made? It is amazing how many notes he plays in this 107-minute film.
