Thianna and Karn both have very different strengths and weaknesses and they find that by working together they can survive many tough situations. They were great opposites in characters. Frostborn had a really slow start. I was kind of wondering where the story was going for a bit about three quarters in, before it made sense and they circled back to tie it all up in a bow. Readers will embark on a sweeping epic fantasy as they join Karn and Thianna on a voyage of discovery. In their journey they face Trolls, the Undead and even a Dragon all the while discovering that being different can be a benefit that can eventually save your life. The narrative moves along at a good pace without unnecessary flowery descriptions which usually just add to the book's bulk without moving the story along.
And if you fall, stand you will for now and all. Except that most people will have already read the main series, so this book comes off as something without a lot of effort put into it. A little straightforward, but still had a twist or two that kept me guessing.
