This is major on low-mileage vehicle! Consequence: A door that opens unexpectedly may result in an unrestrained occupant falling from the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury. I was driving last night 345 miles from home when it started feeling like I was riding on the bumps on the side of the freeway so I moved over but it continued. Took to Ford dealer and like everybody else bad ptu. Can't even find a low mileage one at a used parts dealer. We people are still paying on these vehicles and need them or we wouldnt of put our trust in ford.
Started to sputter and then the smell of gas, and then burning. I took the car to a mechanic and found that the transfer case is failing. If anyone has any solutions or more info on why this is happening and what I can do. I take excellent care of my care. We'll see what they say. I have the same problem in my 09 Flex right now. The big changes are to occur in 2019 so, since it is under warranty for 36,000 miles I may wait for the new model and hope this problem has been changed.
It has cost me a lot of money through it all. Have taken great care of it and loved it until. Can it be something in the rear end rotary blade coupling? Upon inspection I noticed the smoke was pouring from the alternator. The dealership told me to call Corporate and I've called corporate 3 times and they are not any help. Not too many of these models out there, so curious what symptoms of your failure were? I verified that it was engine oil from the pan or plug.
And from my experience I could say about the exact opposite for the Japanese brands. I thought I was getting a safe reliable car, all I really have is an endless money pit death trap in wheels that I'm basically stuck with. I went to make a left turn into my office complex and I heard the clunking again. The 2nd replacement I'm driving on now is beginning to smell again. Still under warranty, but how often will this happen? Think I'll ride this one out. I agree 100% with the other person who stated an investigation needs to be kicked off for the sensor problems with the 2008 Ford Edge. They said the transfer case needs to be replaced because the fluid has leaked out.
Bulletin: 16-0031 Component: 060000 engine pws Summary: Issue some 2013-2014 focus st, fusion, escape and mkz vehicles equipped with a 2. I continued driving the car until, as I was pulling out from a Light, the vehicle shuttered. Had the oil changed three times but on the third time the mechanic told me I had a leaking axle seal and he recommended I take it to a dealer and get repaired. Left the car in place until I can figure out what to do about the fluid. Leaking all over my garage floor so I took it to the repair shop. Had grinding noise in front end, initally thought it was a wheel bearing.
Work order said the transmission computer learned shift points were erased. I think I caught mine just in time to prevent total failure. Just took it out and problem solved. We are not going to drive it anymore until we get it to the shop. I do not know if I will keep it after it is fixed if I don't I will not get another ford. Ford should be recalling this car! My power train ended at 60,000.
Many times the charging system warning lamp illuminated on restart, while every electronic on the car said to contact dealer for the failure, and the vehicle sounded funny and drove oddly when I would try to move it - Now I find out it is the Turbine Output Shaft Speed Sensors. Dealer replaced intermediate shaft seal under warranty. The only reason this 3rd one is still going with all the clunking is because every other weekend I siphon out the old pasty oil and fill with fresh oil. Attorney fees can easily make this option not real viable. .
So I drove to my office which is about a mile away. After test driving it again he heard another noise that I can't describe in words. When I cure our problem I will post. Brought it into the dealer the same afternoon and was told that it was the transfer case and it would cost 1500 to replace. I am the poor sucker that bought a 2010 Ford Flex Limited with EcoBoost Turbo.
I am a single mother of two trying my best and Ford ain't right at all I actually used to work there and they even treated me like shit it was horrible. It's just a sign of the times. I've been a Chevy man for 31 years and if Ford doesn't make this right I will never buy another vehicle from them again. I felt that I was treated as though I might be imagining the problem. Looked under the vehicle today and there's black fluid all over the undercarriage. Started smelling a burning oil smell through the ventilation.
Bought 2010 ford edge with 39000 miles had a leak they replaced the ptu seal. Never will I buy ford again. I was hoping to keep this car a few more years. So, luckily, mine was an easy enough fix. Wondering if anyone else had this problem and if their warranty paid or didnt pay.
