I told them I starting hearing a howling noise from the right rear end side of truck. I was advised to contact Toyota directly and complain. Dealers are like lawyers,protect and take your money. Remove corrosion from the sensor's electrical terminal using electrical contact cleaner and repeat your test, if necessary. I found one who commented here and said that his had some issue with the transmission over heating but so far no issue with the lag.
The failure and current mileage was 73,000. Did leave a message for the dealership owner to call me. Do you have to floor it too? Use a large flat screwdriver and lightly pry the sensor off the transmission. This along with all of the fantastic features, of course made me a raving fan of Toyota products. No way I can drive this for 5 years. Will be filing additional complaints with all appropriate agencies. It did not help, and the truck happy-slaps itself into 2nd to 1st on dry surfaces, still.
Today I noticed after backing up that I had a hard time engaging into drive to leave my house, then it jolted me forward in a sense where it kinda scared me. I was right at 6900 miles on the vehicle when I noticed the problem at varying speeds, highway and surface streets, while accelerating or running at a constant speed. When I first got my truck I test drove it out on a highway and floored it a bunch of different times from various cruising speeds to see how well it accelerates and it accelerated fairly quickly but obviously lacks the power of a v6 or higher. This corrected the delay to shift issue but the erratic shifting has always been an issue. They should be ashamed of this drive train. . The vehicle was almost impossible to turn.
Mine was shifting from Reverse to Drive. My wife took my truck in for its first 5000 mile oil change, at the dealer a week ago. Transmission is slipping at various gears, just as if fluid was low. You can find the thermostat housing by following the upper radiator hose, which connects to the thermostat housing on the engine side. A few other things were done as well. I was patient and it paid off. Within a few weeks of buying the truck, I started randomly having an issue that seems cold weather related.
The transmission literally felt like it was trying to fall out of the vehicle. Old cotter pins will become work harden and break. However, if a wire was to be burned or a fuse was to burn, then the vehicle will not shift and will default to a neutral position making the vehicle unusable. But it slips with a thump,everyday. Make sure to put on protective gloves prior to removing any battery terminals. An inspection revealed the power steering rack was leaking from both sides, and the pump seized.
This truck has the Premium Technology Package and not only looks cool on the outside, but its like a space shuttle on the inside. With many, many people reporting this same problem, Toyota can not ignore this forever! My 2016 Tacoma is such a disappointment, the real troubles are towing a small 2,000 lb. Simply explained, each gear in your transmission equals a certain ratio of gearing for the input of the crankshaft and the output of the drive-shaft. I just purchased this truck to carry garbage to the landfill twice weekly but I like it so much I have been driving it all the time…. It can't reduce overdrive to 0% because it would be an extreme waste, I mean try driving in 2nd for a whole tank and see what you come up with. The wheel speed sensors are also used for anti-lock braking systems and traction control systems.
After some research I have found this to be a common problem with the 6t75 transmission across the entire gm line of vehicles manufactured in late 2007. This helps remove any debris and moisture that could cause future problems. I pulled over to check vehicle and everything seemed fine. The new lineup of Toyota vehicles are offered with a wide-array of advanced features and technology. Huge difference, to me at least. I have a 2017 Sport and I have more problems after the update.
The manufacturer stated that there were no open recalls. So I am wondering to what the issue could be. Throttle position sensor The Throttle Position sensor measures the throttle position, which is controlled by the gas pedal. Seems like a roll of the dice if you get a problematic tranny or not. I explained the issue to Tim Farrand, my Service Adviser. Funny thing is it used to shift just fine at speed… only the delay when shifting from reverse to drive. This ensures that when under stress the truck will not lug as the next gear engages.
The trans is smoother than ever like my 2006 Tacoma and no more delays. I was told the the truck is running normal. Now you're going to take another pair of readings. I turn it off when I get up to highway speeds. Hopefully I will hear back soon.
