This kit includes a updated hydraulic alternator tensioner for added reliability and longevity. Remove the four T25 torx screws that secure the fan shroud. Then, thought the new belt was wrong, tandem yet trying to put the old one still short. All of our performance parts are those we would and do! All of our performance parts are those we would and do! In more serious cases, the bearing, or pulley itself may wear out to the point of breaking or cracking, and coming apart, or seizing. Install the cooling fan and fan shroud. With a bad bearing, the arm may seize up and prevent the tensioner from working properly. We sell the tensioner and deflection pulleys for the M50 engine family used in the E34, E36, E39, E46, X5, Z3, and Z4. If you have had this happen to you and have diagnosed either belt to be the culprit, then read on. Be careful not to force belt onto pulleys because you may damage it.
February 18, 2015 Followup from the Pelican Staff: The ribs in the belt should not ride on a smooth idler pulley. Do I have to use this particular model or can I use one without it? If you are replacing the tensioner, remove the two 13mm bolts that secure it. I decided to replace all belts, pulleys, tensioners, and hardware because I had no record of previous replacement.
