By keeping Christmas strictly in the realm of a season to spend time with friends and family and celebrating with decorations, baked goods and gifts, it promotes the secular version of the holiday that anyone, including ducks who have to migrate to warm southern climates, can partake in. That is, until the kids push Mickey too far and force him to tell a truly terrifying tale. Now, while I did really enjoy Duck the Halls, I have to admit that it felt too short. He now has a large, wagging jaw, a bent posture, and drooping eyes. The humor in the show appeals to both kids and adults, and is a little more intense than the old-fashioned Mickey cartoons from the '40s, so be aware of that. .

In a brand new, extended-length Mickey Mouse cartoon that premieres tonight on Disney Channel, Donald Duck decides to stay home and enjoy a winter wonderland Christmas instead of migrating South with all the other ducks for the winter. He's dumb and just doesn't seem to be all there, which makes him really entertaining. Instead I thought it would be fun to take a look at the best gags that made this episode so hilarious. This may be entering spoiler territory, but a few of the offhand jokes that made me lose it were just so out of nowhere.
The character are wonderful and true to Disney Universe. If you haven't been following those, and come to this nostalgically expecting Mickey Mouse from the 1950's, then some of the humor here will be jarring, if not horrifying. I seriously watched this part several times because it was so good. The main cast have also had character design upgrades to go along with the new style of animation and humor. In Duck the Halls, Donald Duck opts to stay put when his flock of family and friends migrate south for the winter, and finally gets to enjoy his first Christmas winter wonderland with the most enthusiastic holiday reveler ever, Mickey Mouse, along with Minnie, Pluto and Goofy. After a little break about half a year now from the animated Mickey Mouse series, we got a Christmas special earlier this month. Part of the Emmy- and Annie-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon series, Duck the Halls includes cameos by Uncle Scrooge McDuck, nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, Professor Ludwig Von Drake, Gus Goose and of course, Santa Claus.
If you enjoy those, this is more of the same, but longer and with Christmas. My only complaint about this series is the episode length. Yes, I realize that there were the early shorts like Steamboat Willie from 1928, that had a very over exaggerated, rubber hose style. However, I do like a good pun and when telling Donald why he should stay for Christmas, Missile Toes sounds like a perfectly good reason. We really enjoyed this, but it should be noted that this is very much in the style of the recent Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts. That's not what Disney Ducks are at all, but I guess I shouldn't judge a series before seeing it.
About Huey, Dewey and Louie, I can't remember if we have actually seen them before in this series either if so it can't be many episodes — but we've seen Donald in lots of episodes. Most notably is Goofy, who looks more, well? The voice actors did a terrific job on this series, keeping true to the original characters. The story was written by Darrick Bachman. But Disney soon started moving towards animation that was more subtle and lifelike.
What was your favorite part? I literally laughed out loud during a few special moments. If you like the old late-'90s cartoons like Freakazoid, Powerpuff Girls, or Johnny Bravo then you'll like this. One of the best things about this short was the animation. . This Disney special doesn't force a religious aspect in fact, the only religious scene is a brief parody? It was unlike anything I've ever seen or expected from Disney. He just gets more sickly as time progresses. I haven't seen the special yet, but does it really portray Donald and family as being real ducks who must migrate south during the winter, rather then being basically humans drawn as ducks? It was so out of character for Disney that I couldn't stop smiling.
The only problem is that Mickey's stories are anything but scary, and now the kids are whipped into a demanding frenzy. Duck the Halls: A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special 2016 tells the story about a Christmas that goes horribly wrong. The humor seemed a little gross, and not in the traditional spirit. I'm glad they have Mickey live with his parents rather then with some uncle, tough it's bad to see young Mickey with Pluto, whom he won't met until years later. It's definitely entertaining, and something you should give a watch if you have the time, or just have an inkling for something a little bit outlandish. I felt flickers of SpongeBob in Mickey, Patrick Star in Goofy, and like I said the whole episode seemed out of place in the Disney Universe, and also had humor that just didn't feel like Disney as a whole. Another funny moment is when Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, and Pluto decide to hijack Santa's sleigh instead of asking for his help which is what I thought was going to happen. It also reminded me of something that just wasn't inherently Disney? Disney has resurrected the Mickey Mouse Cartoon franchise with this series. No longer the well-meaning, albeit clumsy, beanpole that I've known since the old days. In this scene, his tongue literally freezes off from catching a single snowflake on it. To date, I've come to expect safe and wholesome.
