But she did not know that Chucky had a debt of its own, and it would manage to complete its work 20 years ago. The camera work is great. The animation made him look so fake that it took away from all the scariness of the Chucky I remember. My favorite element of this update is how there's an strong undercurrent of paranoia from Nica's viewpoint. The ending, of course, leaves room for a sequel that could play off the theme of the movie, and revisit dangling threads from the earlier series. Very well shot and edited.
Any fan of Child's Play must see this, even if you hated the last three 3, Bride, Seed or loved them all besides Seed, maybe. I liked getting the a back story on Charles Lee ray. Soon, the traditional murders begin that only Chucky can handle. Next was a series of gruesome murders occuring within the family and Nica believed that the doll had caused. The writing does a commendable job having the characters act and react the way normal people would, thus why they are all relatable. Among them is a little girl, who adopts the Chucky doll.
Nica's sister moves into the home to help watch over the family and take care of the mother's estate. This enables you to watch the video without an Internet connection. . One of the better horror movies I've seen in a while. After being quickly dispatched, the rest of the family arrives to take over the estate from the daughter. Brad Dourif, the original director, and another important cast member from parts 4 and 5 appear; and this movie actually seems like a return to the formula of the original movies, using some of the surprise and humor of the last two. If they would have left Chucky alone and not used special effects the movie would have been so much better; even with the annoying characters.
Curse of Chucky plays it dead serious throughout it's runtime, while sprinkling in some witty dialogue and relatable human characters and situations, thus investing the viewer in the experience. The parents of the girl seem to have ulterior motives and a strange relationship with their babysitter, which is later revealed as a pleasant and humorous twist. But they don't play the rehash card-she isn't right there, being ridiculed and blamed for everything. As worrying about Nica that Barb did not pay attention to his youngest daughter playing and talk with one doll named Chucky. The last entry seems to largely avoid parts 4 and 5, although it does not erase them completely. Fans of those movies may be disappointed this doesn't pick right up where they left off. The suspense and pacing is very well done. Of course, bodies pile up.
The acting good, especially by star Fiona Dourif daughter of Brad, the voice of Chucky and who also played his human counterpart Charles Lee Ray in the original 1987 film as Nica, a disabled yet sporty young woman. When I finally got around to watching it I have to say that I was more than a little disappointed. The voice is back, but the scars are not yet present. This movie seems to be a prequel to the series as Chucky appears in pristine condition when he arrives at the home of a girl, Nica, who has recently lost her mother due to suicide. The other actors playing Nica's older sister and brother-in-law Alice's parents , Alice's nanny, and the priest are solid as well.
