If not, what is cheapest way to get a Windows 10 key, if I don't have to pay for one right off of Microsoft? Or just don't activate it. Normally, of course, all these devices would be in one business; if a seller is selling the same key to 50 unconnected people, does this create some sort of a connection between them — in other words is it a security risk? My thought is the algorithm becomes more relaxed as time goes on. The free upgrade ended a while back, so while this may work, it won't be a legit license. Whether it activates or not has no bearing at all. If the free upgrade was truly supposed to end at the end of July, why have the activation servers keep allowing those old keys to work? Can we really disable Cortana? My personal experience with activating Windows, at least with retail licenses, is there is likely a time based aspect to the activation. Very incitement, but i have a feeling that since all mac pros are pretty much exactly the same outside of the processors that as along as you have similar hardware it should theoretically activate and be given a bran new key once it is.

The retail Windows 8 Pro was available for that price for months and a few months after it ended, it was available for 20 bucks all from reputable sites, so the seller was probably just selling you an extra license they got.
