I'd very thoroughly inspect the abs wires from above the axle down to the wheels. Toyota has updated the wheel speed sensor to prevent moisture from finding its way into the connector. But it may be damaged and you are getting the code just at the time that a brake job is required. Pretty much middle of pic: If it's on there, solid, I would not attempt to pull it off for a check: it's retaining mechanism is a royal pain, and prone to break.

While I was reading the how to site, I was hoping that the 4 runner is similar to my sienna? Where the connector for the rear wheel speed sensor harness attaches to the wheel speed sensor itself which is part of the rear wheel bearing , there is a small rubber seal that prevents water and road salt from getting into the connector. As of yesterday, the lights have continuously stayed on upon starting the car. We did just have it maintenenced at Toyota while the lights were on and they didn't find anything but I don't think they are that thorough. After the electrical system has been checked and repaired, if necessary, you would need to proceed with procuring a capable scan tool that can initialize the steering angle sensor and recheck operation.
Sounds like you've covered the bases. That's not helpful at all, but I wanted to share. At least there is no abs light on. I had to replace both front calipers due to frozen bleed screws under warranty also I used motorkote spray to loosen the rear screws after I broke the fronts off. We don't have anything aftermarket.
The installation bolt is tightened properly. This forum is such a great source of info. Congrats on replacing the speed sensor and correcting that code. Out of this i've fixed C0210 replaced with new rear sensor and not fixed C0246 and C1445. That's the carbon monoxide talking, friends. They are due sometime soon.
Just ask to have the oxygen sensor replaced and the brake job, if the code for the speed sensor stays on, then work on that. Evaporative emissions systems test for a leak in the fuel tank and associated hoses. The speed indicated on the speedometer has an allowable margin of error. I strongly suggest having a qualified technician perform an inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts. I went to an auto-shop to get a computer system diagnostic, and got two codes back: P0135 Oxygen Sensor Heater Bank 1 Sensor 1 C0210 Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Malfuncition I'm betting this all just means my brake pads need replacing. What I do on really hard to diag trucks is disconnect the sensors, flip them left to right and see if the code moves. Eric, You were correct in that the bleeding was very tough and one I had to do over two days as I used about 60 oz. Hey everybody, to make a long post shorter, the bearings in my right rear wheel went bad and I had them replaced approximately 6 months ago. The car has had no big issues before these lights. My car has 54000 miles. I picked up a replacement sensor, cleared the lights and they came right back on. Did you eventually sort out your C0210 code? Damaged sensor is fairly common I believe. I think I got excited that it was the speed sensor since others found that theirs was bad and also had those lights.
