The recordings were carefully edited and finally compiled as a contact instrument with over 180 patches and presets. The Mode pop-up allows you to choose between Monophonic, Polyphonic and Legato as well as to set the Portamento glide. I found that they yield some very interesting results when using two different arpeggiators and swapping sound sources. Unison allows you to control up to eight voices of unison to detune as you see fit this can really beef up your sound if you need it. This virtual instrument plugin comes with 3. You can also choose whether or not you want to tempo sync. Any goodwill attached to those brands rest with the brand owner.
The only open point would be a randomizer but maybe Audiomodern is already working on this. Playing around with the filter and putting it on a high resonance shows that the filter does not go through its Cutoff ranges very smoothly but the steppy nature of it does provide some neat effects when modulated which does fit with the kinds of sound that Atom produces. The sound combinations are infinite. Another filter with controls for the Cutoff and resonance and comes with 3 settings High Pass, Low Pass, and Band Pass. Over 3000 samples are available, which can be further edited using numerous effects, a multi-layer engine, and an arpeggiator. A great feature is the possibility to save an load arpeggiator presets.
The Master tab is where you can adjust the main volume and panning of your sound and then feed it through a compressor. The other thing that I found lacking here was any type of randomization functions. After unzipping the zip archive to any folder of choice the instrument is ready to go. You can save your sequence which is a nice little touch and pressing the random button is really nice for when you feel experimental and are looking for those happy accidents. The Filter pop-up gives you control over the filter envelope and resonance controls. In conclusion Atom is an amazing hybrid library to have and I know I will be using it allot in my own projects, it is amazing at creating custom vibes that can really steer the whole direction of your track.
Another great feature of this library is the individual layer page with its well shaped effect controls. A unique sound design tool to create a huge range of distinctive cinematic sounds, otherworldly atmospheres, mesmeric drones, emorive synths, noisey pads, organic keys, impressive cinematic fx, transitional elements, Impacts and and Melodic Motifs each with its own character and concept behind the creation handcrafted with passion, innovation and technology. The same 180+ sources are available on both layers and you can mix and match as you need to. The same 180+ sources are available on both layers and you can mix and match as you need to. Unison allows you to control up to eight voices of unison to detune as you see fit this can really beef up your sound if you need it. The combination of the 2 layers can create a big variety of sounds — maybe a third and even a fourth layer would be a great extension and lead to even more complex sounds.
The Arpeggiator that comes with Atom provides you with all the options that you need from a good Arp there is one for each layer and allows you to change each notes Tone, Volume, Octave and Play style. Besides having preset drop-down and standard controls in the upper portion of the interface, at the very bottom are the navigation tabs for the other key elements in the library. In Conclusion Atom is an amazing hybrid library to have and I know I will be using it allot in my own projects, it is amazing at creating custom vibes that can really steer the whole direction of your track. As I said, there is an extreme level of control over each layer of sound that ultimately make up the sum of the whole. The rest of the controls are fairly standard offering Pattern, Octave, Gate and Rate selectors. The stutter effect has three controls Amount, Gate and Rate and works a treat on the Atmos presets.
I said at the very beginning of this review that I am becoming more and more skeptical about new Hybrid libraries and their ability to deliver something unique to the already large palette of sounds that I have in my toolkit. Let us go through all of the effects starting from the top. Last but not least there is an arpeggiator section where both layers can individually sequenced. The chorus has three controls Depth, Speed and Dry wet and is nice to add some shimmer o your sound. The Master pop-up allows you to set volume, balance and turn on and control the built-in compressor. .
Both filter and envelope can be enabled or disabled through dedicated switches. As always, please check out the audio and video demos with the links provided below to make sure that this is the right tool for your unique needs. The sound is outstanding and the library contains some very inspiring presets. To take that a step further, I really look at the workflow with a critical eye. The sound source material addressed my first challenge of sound. Imagination and a little bit of experimentation here goes a long way with yielding some pretty nice results. The chorus has three controls Depth, Speed and Dry wet and is nice to add some shimmer o your sound.
Lo-Fi is great if you need to add some grit and noise to your sound source giving it that old timey feel which can be really nice in some cases especially if you are trying to fill out the spectrum a bit. But also all other categories are top notch. A unique virtual instrument with a powerful custom engine fully equipped to spark your creativity. Like all of the other pages in the library, you can turn off one or both of them by clicking on the power button. Also interesting is the Random Sequence Generator, which lets you create random patterns. I quite enjoyed the uniqueness of the timbres on offer. The mode tab is where you can set what kind of performance mode you would like to employ to your sound Monophonic, Polyphonic, legato and you can adjust the glide between two notes with the slider underneath.
