Paula Price seems omnipresent in this typically dreamy sex fantasy by Andrew Blake. Eleven concise sex scenes take place in Price's dreams, nearly all of them involving her participation. Whenever hardcore pornos are attempting to tell some story, or portray some character, they face a major dilemma. It has an impressive supporting cast and the maestro's trademark visual and impressionistic editing style. Raquel Darian and her man Derrick Lane also appear, but it remains throughout a Paula Price showcase. Erica Boyer, pre-boob-enhancement surgery, is a scene-stealer bearing a strap-on-dildo, while Randy West enjoys a hot threesome.
It's the same structure as Blake's previous film in this cycle, which starred Tori Welles with Spears in the same doctor role. Two psychiatrists observe her dreams using a special dream-watching machine. There is the odd film here and there in which the writers did find a plot device for justifying or even requiring frequent fornication. Unfortunately, Andrew Blake is a lousy story teller, and so he does not develop this idea much further. He and nurse Cheri Taylor hook her up with strategically placed electrodes on her body and monitor her dreams on a tv screen, inducing dreams where necessary.
. Needless to say, we join them. Blake's strength is style, waggonloads of style, although one can easily blame him for overdoing it in some of his pictures. In Night Dreams the sex is not really happening, it is dreamt by our heroine Tori Welles who is frigid when awake and, er, hedonistic in her dreams. In Night Dreams he keeps the balance.
But this does not mean that it never works. Usually, this just does not work. . . . . .
