They said because I didn't change the transmission oil for too long, the transmission is burnt. So I suppose I check everything a little sooner than most people would…if ever because I am told that nobody can repair this vehicle before I ever get it. I like the fuse only solution, too many people I have read on trailvoy forum actually have issues after a battery disconnect, usually ac and blend door related. I went home parked it and the next mornin wen i was headed to town i had the exact same problem as i had before i changed the tranny. They were told it only happened when the vehicle was first started or when it had been sitting for about 5 hours. In fact, I would even go far as to say it clicks into gears!!! I just put new vavle body in it still the same. They replaced the fuel pump and 02 sensors but neither has corrected the problem.
While this is happening the speedometer drops to zero. The repair shop determined the front planetary drive snapped because a bearing broke loose. She was lucky enough to be able to get if off of the highway, and from there I had it towed to the dealer. Glad you are up and running. Transmission must be removed and rebuilt. Turns out alot of people have seen this related to sun-shell failure. Trans not separated during rebuild, bottom end of motor was okay.
The first, and easiest, thing to check is the tranny fluid level and condition. It was tried shortly after I left it and they called and said nothing happened so they were going to leave it overnight and try it in the morning. It is drivable until it breaks.
No burnt oil, or leaks. Stays in drive, wont shift into overdrive or back. You want to make sure it is not broken. A customer with a 1996 Chevy Tahoe brought the vehicle in, stating that it was shifting erratically, the cruise control would surge from 50 mph to 60 mph and then cut out completely and the speedometer, at times, was drifting.
