If they are not, you may want to swap your Ranger condenser for an Explorer condenser just so everything is compatible. Buy a recycled 1997 Ford Explorer transmission and save thousands of dollars. Complete carpet solutions are not that expensive off eBay and generally a 15+ year old vehicle's looks are improved by new carpet. Had it towed to some local garage and had a used junk yard tranny put in it. . I can say right off that you won't likely be able to reuse your Ranger transmission. This is really where great strides in power, driveability and functionality can be found. My current combo is a 98 Explorer engine. There are a number of other oh-by-the-ways to be aware of. It would be a lot less expensive to do this. Basically it uses a camshaft position sensor in place of the distributor and coil packs fired from the computer. Has anyone ever tried to replace a output shaft? Make it so that the 98+ trans can be bolted in, meaning move the vehicle wires at the trans connector.
And for deep pockets, go with Torque Monster headers. Anyway, I think I can use the 97 engine, manifolds, and mounts but here's where I get confused. Is that something I'll have to change over to my truck? This is the conversion U-joint to match the F150 front driveshaft to the stock pinion flange on the Ranger's D35 diff. I used an unmodified stock front driveshaft from the same style F150 that supplied the 4406 manual transfer case. My mustang will have a 5 speed standard, not the electonic aod that the explorer has.
