Doesn't seem to be so for this truck. It's mostly intake and cam, and the X head crate motor doesn't suffer from a lack of torque. The truck gives up on power after about 4200 rpm. The end result will be a smooth transition from gear to gear with no goofy clunking. The 351's longer stroke makes much better torque, my 393 is a stroked 351 for even more torque.
I have experienced it's torque curve and it's exactly what your saying. Again; the reason for the original question. The explorer cam was waay less aggressive, down under 440 lift. It's just a 302 with X303 heads and B303 roller cam. It does favor the exhaust side, however.
I have X303s on my Cobra now. However, there are still some significant benefits to be had re-calibrating normal daily shift strategies. But I don't think I'm too worried about the intake any more. The big equalizer is Forced Induction. When I said 350hp, I was refering to the actual 345hp version. Crower 15511 is supposed to be a pretty good cam, works with some speed density and has similar lift numbers with more duration than my Crane. That's why I was after the stock F150 5.
Are you talking about the Explorer 5. Yes i also crimped the smog tube that runs between the heads and welded it. Which… It depends on which 327 you are asking aobut. Just waiting to get it sand blasted now. Rllr Cam, Wndsr Fir Ordr Ford E-150 Econoline 94 8 5. Dam she sounds purdy :D nice upgrade tho hope to see more proudsailor93: How long did it take to put the cam in? This varies engine to engine however. Larger displacement, regardless of whether made by bore or stroke, will allow more port velocity with higher flowing heads, and makes your torque. Cant wait till the morning to finish everything up and hear how she sounds. This might help searches in the future.
Another concern, is the headers. Untill I find out 100% what to do with the smog system I am going to crimp the hoses and weld up the air tube. I live in South Mississippi.
