To match the quality, size, scope and true legatos of Adagio Violins Vol. Downloading the library was simple — you get an email with the download link, stick your code into the 8Dio downloader, and away you go. I also realised that Agitato Sordino is not included in the Agitato bundle I was looking at which is a shame. These patches are really where you have a chance to shine with Adagio Violins because it allows you to create fully dynamic recordings without loading multiple tracks and patches. Thanks so much everyone for your insight and help. Agitato Sordino Legato contains a completely new legato system, which is more flexible than ever.
These variations give you loads of flexibility for crafting a spiccato that bits just enough, or blends in. Anthology Strings is a deep-sampled music software instrument from 8Dio Productions. For myself, they just don't deliver the cohesion that I want to hear for that Hollywood orchestral string sound. These patches were absolutely gorgeous, my favourite being the Violins Legato patch. The control goes beyond simply adding more vibrato. Anthology is intuitive in design and sound.
Adagio takes it further by integrating them into the legato patches. Heart Anthology is not a sample library. Anyway, from the looks of it Adagio gets you a bit more content than the Agitato bundle basses, sordino, lots of articulations. Owners of All Adagio String Bundle will get 6 points towards purchase of the Anthology library which will consolidate all the Adagio and Agitato libraries. You find the most comprehensive set of articulations in our elaborate Ensemble Strings. These controls are only presented as available for particular articulations and are conveniently grayed out when not in use.
This is so much easier to navigate than the Adagio and Agitato interface and means you can get to work on your track much more quickly; that is, once the instrument itself loads. Legato intervals were sampled up to 4 times round robin allowing for an even greater degree of realism. So if you need a full-on chamber section with all articulations, you may need to supplement elsewhere. The strings were all carefully processed and coded to operate exactly how you want them to. You can mix each of these as needed, or keep them off if desired. A compendium of all principal articulations needed for advanced orchestration — and equally built for fast and expressive string writing.
What has raised eyebrows, however, is that it boasts as a major selling point no less than 10 different legato styles! The custom smart browser offers you access to everything. The beating heart of Anthology Strings is its playability, emotion and ease-of-use. The sound is fantastic and the close mics are similar to the kind of presence you get with L. Anthology contains both Ensemble, Divisi and Solo String sections for both Violin s , Viola s , Cello s and Basse s. Whether you play our completely fluent Ensemble Legatos or a delicate Cello Chamber Section with the presence of close microphones. As well as performing a small menu of multisampled performances including some very effective, emotive 'dynamic bowings' the solo violin has its own legato style, known as 'Schindler' another movie tribute : featuring a strong, expressive vibrato, this works reasonably well providing you stick to the sad, reflective style its name suggests, but it's less well suited to the brisk, cheerful, no-nonsense melodies we Brits enjoy.
All groups were sampled with three different microphone positions close, far, mixed. The person that wants the most expressive virtual strings ever created within a fingers touch. The Wrap-up 8Dio Adagio Violins is something special. A meaning to these dead samples. I'm sure you'll think of some ingenious creative uses for them! Also included in this patch is a miniature collection of rather predictable effects: random pizzicatos, unisons that drift out of tune and slide around randomly, and a couple of samples of the players tuning up.
Sound Agitato retains the lively, vibrant sound that attracted many people to Adagio but perhaps projects a bit more. But on the flip side, you almost come away with the sense that you could visualize the player as they rocked the bow back and forth. Suffice it to say that none of the extraneous performance artifacts I heard were noticeable when played as part of a full arrangement, and they would only cause me concern when exposed in a solo passage. I do have the full version of Kontakt. It sounds stunningly good with our custom close microphone position. This bow stroke is used to slightly separate notes without actually stopping the bow's motion or changing its direction: the separation is done by momentarily reducing bow pressure on the string, and the slight emphasis which occurs when pressure is resumed has the effect of re-articulating the note. So much so that it was difficult to get started to get a review out.
The 11 person ensemble here is a nice balance between getting lost in the mix and overpowering it. All groups were sampled with three different microphone positions close, far, mixed and we deployed a variety of never-done-before sampling techniques from round robin based legato and the ability to connect legato effortlessly with other articulations like loure floating notes and dynamic bowings expressive notes. Everything about Anthology is emotion. You do have to pan it at this point because the players are seated down the middle. The three sensible microphone positions Close, Mixed, Far offers you full mastery over the sound. Anthology is intuitive because it sounds real.
So you can keyswitch to each one depending on your needs. The emotion in the players is obvious, but yet the dynamics manage to stay rather consistent. Really, when compared to many newer Kontakt libraries, Adagio Violins is pretty darn basic. This is an essential addition for surround mixing. The mixed microphone offers a beautiful compilation of dozens of microphones into a resource effective, all-round sound that works for all general purposes. In addition to these multisamples, the solo violinist turns in a sizeable collection of highly expressive minor-key phrases, featuring the occasional Paganini-like virtuosic outburst and a few examples of double-stopping, a playing technique I can't recall ever hearing in a sample library before.
