Valve cover gaskets were replaced. Currently, 2 quarts of oil every 3,000 miles. No symptoms aside from rough idle. This hose had to be replaced on this visit. It appears to be large enough to completely enclose the strainer and clamp it against some other part. Engine should not have this issue again after repair. Contract expired at 140K miles - water pump failed at 143K miles.

Need a new replacement part. We recommend preventative replacement of the fuel filter at 60-80,000 mile intervals. I took it to an independent shop and two gaskets had to be replaced. Leaks were still present after a week or so and was told this leak was from a different area that needs to be repaired and was charged mostly for labor the second time. Vehicle still drove fine with possible decrease in fuel economy.
Partially filled system with well water and the closest anti-freeze I could find. Dealer replaced the charge air temp sensor. Check engine light has remained off and vehicle passed B. On the plus side, diesel started easily in cold weather. The E9X fuel filter replacement is not complex but access can be difficult and you're dealing with potentially fragile plastic so amateurs may want to leave this to a professional technician. Im sure you will have to press the dealer for reimbursement on the battery.

As of today my dealer hasnt had a good answer from bmw I filled up yesterday when the gauge showed approx 38 full the vehicle took approx 12 gallons which would leave 10. If they did not put in a bypass valve into the filter then it wouldn't damage anything if it was not changed. Replaced water pump and thermostat. Seam developed a leak under pressure. They are not built like they used to be.
