Car was taken to dealer where I was told a pin claimed lose in the clutch. The stick has very nice shift action, and so does the clutch. There is no replacement system available for the 2012-2013 model year Ford Focus. I established thru on-line chat with distant Ford mechanics that this was a known problem. At 18,000 km another mechanic said the grooves were not natural for that mileage. Rain causes dings in the metal easily. The fire destroyed the vehicle.
Note: When you turn off the speed control or the ignition, your speed control set speed memory is erased. Turns out there was an extended warranty on this to 150,000 miles. The Ford 6 speed automatic is an engineering mistake and Ford is not stepping up to the table to satisfy owners. The drive computer malfunctioned and was replaced by a new one. It is going bad again although it has been only a few short weeks since it was adjusted last. Some mechanics have been able to fix the issue, so regardless of marketing it certainly appears to be a problem.
During towing of vehicle, tow truck driver noticed that there was a large amount of rust on the undercarriage of the car. Refer to Blind spot mirrors in the Driving chapter. Owners will receive a second notification when the remedy is available. But when we tested two Ford Fiestas, the automated manual version got better fuel economy than the do-it-yourself manual. I have taken it to dealer 4 times since purchase for trans adjustment. At one point about 6 months ago it seemed to be stuck in a lower gear and sounded like it was revving constantly.
Computer overrode transmission, it was part of a recall. But in the long run its transmission issues become super annoying. Ford took care of the clutch replacement under service notice. It is a smooth ride, easy to maintain, not to mention very comfortable. New clutch needed for dual clutch transmission. The dealer replaced the clutch packs under warranty.
I was told the trans guy is booked for one month. It even happened with the key in the off position a few times. Dealer replaced transmission control module covered by an extended warranty that Ford introduced due to high rates of dual-clutch transmission issues. They drove the car and explained it is an inherent quality of the dry double clutch and it is not a problem by itself. It's styling is untouched within its class in my opinion.
Tachometer: Indicates the engine speed in revolutions per minute. The wipers may be moved manually with the ignition off. Dealer could not find problem in first visits but we forced them to keep car and drive it until it failed. This can help identify potential issues and prevent major problems. The transmission was rebuilt and clutch replaced.
Ford has been great with our concerns. This program is separate from the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The car has been in the shop for hesitation, grinding, rough shifts, and driving forward when in reverse. Drives like it's brand new now. Did I said that I hate this car? I brought the complaint to the dealer s 8 times. Tranmission was slow to react. Then the oil leak had to be repaired.
The dealer replaced the clutch packs an reprogrammed the transmission. I even try putting it in 1st gear and it barely makes it; i feel like it's going to quit any time. Prior to failure, the transmission would shift very hard. The transmission is covered under a warranty, and Ford must have had some idea of what was going on. It woked good for about 20,000 miles. The next hundred miles of driving almost caused numerous accidents due to lack of acceleration and uneven performance. Ended up being a bolt on one of the camshafts came loose causing the timing chain to stop working.
