So I have 3k on the new engine and its going through a fairly heavy amount of coolant and oil. That was with only 3000 miles on the new car. There is a possibility of a lemon law claim, or at the very least a breach of warranty. With in the first month clutch started slipping and took me 3 trips back to the dealer, where on the 3rd time I had to do a ride along with the mechanic to prove the clutch was slipping, and only then did I recieve a new clutch. Think of it as a modern day muscle car, if not in execution then at least in spirit, especially when modern day retro jobs are frequently pushing around 40 large. Highly recommend you test drive one, I drove alot of cars in its class from a performance standpoint and no other car felt better, from Hyundai, Honda, Mazda, and Mitsubishi. Or they might just replace the engine.
If you have a good record then expect to pay slightly higher than normal rates, but if your 25 yrs old and a few tickets then be prepared for a sticker shock. This means I will have to replace the transmission. If no brake fluid seepage is observed, the affected areas will be rustproofed with anti-corrosion wax. This was on a Wednesday.

Then today my wife took it to the dealer and when she got 5 miles away the car started loosing power and just died on her on the side of the interstate. At 4500 rpm it has always hesitated. Recently, after 86000 clutch went out again had to replace again now I am having issues with ignition, starter and could be rings, not sure. Yeah, you read that right. Originaly I figured the clutch was on its way out and being that it is a wareable part i agreed to fix it on my own but now that i know there is a problem with the transmission i am sceptical about the whole situation.
Despite weighing slightly less than the old model and the Special Edition, braking distance increased several feet to 113 feet from 60 mph. Last week I got off the highway pulled up to the red light and it stalled at the light. Yesterday this turned into a knocking sound that starts at 2rpms. Subaru of America doesn't care and wont help. As for the reliability this car has been just like my 05, no problems reported, the only visit to the dealer so far is for a faulty fog-light housing.
Well, about 3 weeks ago, the clutch wore out and the transmission is damaged as well. With only having 38k on the engine breaking in period , this has been a very unbelievable experience until seeing other Subaru owners going through the same issues, I have gone through. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules used as original equipment or replacement equipment. The new car, testers theorize, sticks so well that the wheels won't spin on launch, causing the engine to bog and come off boost. I have the opportunity to get out of this car, but im debating if I should. A little touchup paint does help.
