I was living up in bellingham this summer and got lucky enough to pick one of these up for cheap. I think they bring plenty of innovation to the table with this bike while keeping it simple and tried-and-true. Do you want the bike to be a bit more versatile? The floating brake did develop a little bit of a rattle, but I can handle tightening something like that once or twice over the course of an extended test. But, she-it, make yer mind up. Wouldn't be the first time! Jumps are no problems, it's well balanced and allows you to push the envelope.
If you have a 1. The compression settings for the rear shock are not really adjustable on the fly. The four-bar design on the Blindside may not be the latest or greatest, but it works well in most applications. I guess someone had to clear out their old stock. Dedicated 135mm x 10mm dropouts - no more confusing options 5. The rear derailleur cable is routed through the chainstay for cleaner lines and the swingarm is only compatible with135mm x 10mm setups. As a proud owner of an older Blindside, I would love to try this out.
So, does it work in a real-world situation? I also grew to appreciate how the Blindside made it possible for me to feel comfortable on progressively bigger drops. However, with newer models they've fixed it right up and this is one tightly tuned rig. Paint sux my bawls thru my drawers. The complete bike weighed in at just over 43lbs. That bike was Kevin and used for dealer camp and he's bigger then me ~ 200lbs.
So, a simple comment like that will increase exposure and raise profits. And thinking about what set this bike apart from others. As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I rode the hell out of the Blindside over the last eight months. There are quite a few changes for the new frame, with travel adjustable between 170mm and 190mm as well as the weight dropping a full pound making it now just 7. It was stable at speed, with impressive suspension performance. Also maybe im just pissed right now because i bought a new 2010 totem coil in 1.
The washboard brake bumps at Whistler are punishing on any bike, but this one turned a blind eye and kept on going. The bike felt incredibly solid in every situation, especially on rougher terrain. My previous bike was a Kona Stab Garbanzo. The rear end is able to compress without taking the brake with it, meaning that the design attributes that lead to skipping and stiffening are negated. It seems the only thing you will be losing is 10mm of travel possibility on the rear. It runs beside the rear shock, inside the front attachment point for the shock itself. A test bike will be shortly made available and ride impressions, photos and videos will be forthcoming in September.
Nothing failed on the Blindside, and nothing other than the tires wore out. I love the new changes guys! The climbing position was comfortable; upright, yet balanced with enough weight over the wheels to prevent traction loss. I found that 4mm derailleur housing works best with the internal routing — 5mm is harder to feed through the forward exit hole of the chainstay. Adjustable travel from 170mm to 190mm 4. For us taller riders the bottle rocket is way to small to be pedaling around for any longer than 30min. The Blindside is designed to access these goods, while allowing the rider to still have plenty of energy left to enjoy the downhill. When I first pulled the trigger I thought the Talas had 3 position adj.
I get lots of people who know we are sponsored by Transition and other companies and send us emails all the time asking if we are going to have this bike or that bike. Also, the tapered headtube will change to a more common press fit top. But right out of the box is sick. Once in the air it felt extremely nimble, and I had no trouble pointing it into safe landing zones. Simple and friendly business, calm down.
Can accommodate long seat posts yet drop the seat all the way down too. Tried a freeriding area in Milford last time I was home, but it was very weak. I haven't owned many bikes, but this seems to handle everything I want it to. I think your scale may be broken. I was on the 450lb spring that came on the Blindside my frame's a Medium and that was firm. Not just accounting for the headtube but also the steer tubes, headsets, and stems. Think mid to high 30s build.
