It is also a much simpler and straight forward drivetrain to maintain and repair. The other 7 times my hand was not on the shifter. We got 2 under warranty clutch jobs in the first 12 months I used to blame my wife for the clutch failing. At 12,000 miles new transmission and clutch. Don't forget to swap back to drive when you're done with the trail. I have had tires blow and U joints go bad and this didn't compare.
Back in a dealer shop now. It just a matter of time before someone else gets hurt. No out of pocket yet. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The overheating could then lead to gear slippage and serious damage if overlooked. Also had oil change and brake check done at the same time.
This should not be taken lightly and should be fixed by Chrysler as it is a manufacturing defect. This does not fix the problem and is warned against in the owner's manual. Seal and bearings replaced 188710 km Axle seals leaking. Fill the transmission to the proper level with gear oil. It is quite alarming and disconcerting.
Also, the contact had an independent mechanic perform a front end alignment however, the failure was not corrected. Even on a recall i wont let a dealership touch my vehicle…. This is a dangerous issue in that if one is pulling onto a road to go with or against traffic and this occurs, the end result could be life threatening. Called Jeep right after my post. Jeep brand is all about false advertisement and it cashes on the image and legacy of the older generation Jeeps. And i never really rev high in first.
It was difficult to tell exactly what had happened. It once again ran ok for a while but started jumping out of 1st on a few occasions. After having them say it was the way we drove it, they finally gave in and replaced the 2nd clutch at no charge. They already broke something in the tranny and have to order parts… Hmmm not to confident. At first it would jump out of gear every once in a while very violently I might add. Any help would be appreciated. I had to slow down significantly to regain control of the vehicle.
The inner boot replacement or removal would not be covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty. Had it in the shop more than it was in my driveway. When starting from a stop, the vehicle will take some time to start accelerating, with the delay being in the order of 2 seconds or more. This often is dangerous when pulling into busy traffic or merging onto crowded highways. The ticking noise never went away.
This will be my 8th Wrangler. It's no wonder Chrysler is having financial troubles since they can't make a 4X4 that can handle a bump. If it is the original clutch then you you consider replacing it which would include replacing the throw out bearing. The transmission issue was one of several issues I had with my Patriot. I have begun shifting repeatedly between neutral and 1st as I slow between 20 and 0mph.
In other cases drivers have reported decreased fuel economy. I wanted a Jeep wrangler for a long time. Within 2500 miles, this incident has occurred 10+ times. It doesn't care what angle you are at. The contact stated that he was on a traffic stop and when he tried to pull off the vehicle popped out of gear. A link: link to cda. The incident does not duplicate time after time.
By the way, my car only has 37K miles on it. Shift to first, let off of clutch with or without throttle applied and the transmission will kick out of first gear, leaving the vehicle and occupants in neutral in an intersection, or on train tracks from a stop, forcing quick clutch pedal application and shifting into first again, with the problem most often recurring. My little 36K mile warranty is up, so short of a recall, I'm stuck with it. When I called to complain they asked what I was doing when the clutch went out and I said I was stuck in snow. Sounds like they learned a thing or two from P. The tech has seen many vehicles with this gear oil cause bearing problems and believes it was probably the cause. I immediately pushed on the brake and tried to safely slow the vehicle without causing the vehicle behind me to crash into me.
