On 1999-2002 models the horn honks once for lock and twice for unlock, 3 times if a door is not closed. Sit in driver's seat and unlock all doors. Lock the doors using the power lock switch with the door open. The red 'security' light will then flash 2 times a second until the car is turned on. So maybe the connectors are there, but are wrapped in tape or otherwise hidden? Open and close the driver door this has to be done within 45 seconds of step 4. Unlock the vehicle doors using the keyless entry system. The system will pause for one second and then flash the parking lights and honk the horn three times indicating that the system is in service mode.
