The vehicle was being diagnosed at the time of the complaint. There is a spring attached to a pink button on the gear shifter that keeps popping off of everybody's car. The check engine light illuminated, there were broken bolts and studs. None wanted to mess with trying to fix it, they just wanted to replace it. We were told at oriely's auto parts that this piece is called a shift lock and is not carried at those types of stores. The best measurement is from the bottom of the pan, but with a makeshift dipstick, you can't always find the bottom of the pan, so a distance measurement from the top of the fill tube to the top of your fluid level will be accurate, all else held equal. The vehicle speed control was replaced per the recall and has failed. Had car towed to dealer, shifter broke. However, the gear selector would not shift into drive. If you need to add more do so. From the many complaints I feel this is a dodge defect and should be recalled. If there is no dipstick but instead a plug that says dealer use only you need to take it to the dealer for them to check it. The repairs were performed on the vehicle for the failure. Hard to get dodge to do anything even with my extended warranty? Car just will not change gears from park.

We ordered some take out and were going to pick it up. But luckily it was a saturday so the dealership service dept was closed. Lose of use of car for three days while waiting for part.
I have read many complaints about this same malfunction on the same make, model and year of my car, it should really be recalled. Drove car in morning to work and 8 hours later after starting and then depressing the brake pedal to shift the shift lever would not mover from park. The car just won't move!! Gear shifter stuck in park. However, this apparently happens pretty often with these cars so what am I going to do the next time this happens and the time after that??? While doing this I heard a piece of plastic break off. What needs to be done for this to be taken seriously? Then we had to call and cancel our take out. This is ridiculous and dodge needs to be held accountable. By the way, I strongly recommend changing your filter and fluid every 24,000 miles to keep from having to replace the transmission at arround 130,000 miles. The technician advised the contact that he would notify him by the end of the week to inform the vehicle cause of failure. Informed me of the color and purpose of the culprit and after research? So I got excited went back 2 my job where my car sat in the parking lot and pressed da pink button with a flat head screw driver jst 2 get the car out of park and drove it home where I got it sitting till monday morning wen I call the dodge dealership and complain bout their faulty piece of plastic that's messing every 1s 08 avenger up. Think I'll go with toyota next round thank you. And said it was deductible , I feel it was not my place to have to pay to fix a part that has been recalled, and they messed up. After much research online I've found this is a recurrent problem in this model within 1-2 years ownership. There is several complaints on the internet that shows the same issues.
