New fluid won't have particles and will clean some. What do you guys think? Reinstall the transmission filter, pan gasket and pan. We used to do fleets of Crown Vic cop cars. If you go that route, ensure you get some type of warranty on it. What year is your Crown Vic? I don't think the charge will be a lot if at all.
Change the filter and it should buy you some time though. This plug is in the hole where the dipstick tube should be for shipping to the final assembly plant. You could stop by a transmission shop and see if for free they could check it out to see if there was anything wrong. At 75K miles I had the fluid in my '98 sedan changed. While it may not be difficult to locate replacement parts for Ford vehicles, these days only the absolute best are required to maintain your automobile. I was lucky it didn't start slipping after the flushes. A shop can rebuild a transmission in a day for you.
I used to work in a tranny shop for a few years. The manual says the vehicle has a special heavy duty drivetrain and will make a drivetrain noise and its normal pretty much. Lastly, when changing from P to D or N, it takes like 5 seconds for the transmission to engage. The transmission shifted firm and on time like a truck trans hd should atleast then it did even at wot. Chances are that a fluid change will not help. Anyway, after some slight investigating, seems ford does not recommend changing the filter. As to the brakes, the reason for the problems is most brakes aren't used thru their whole travel, and when the fluid gets neglected there can be coorosion and build up in areas the pistons don't normally travel.
I do all my repairs myself unless I need a lift or specialty equipment so I would really appreciate a detailed response to what you guys think it is and would bet your money on. The consistency of the Automatic Transmission Fluid is comparable to that of brake fluid on your Ford Crown Victoria, but in no circumstances should one be used in place of the other. Now, crap settled in your engine is ok, its dirty oil that causes problems. It should be a little dark by now. That boosts fluid pressure enough to drive for a few minutes. If you insist, only drop the pan and do the filter, as that doesn't drain it all out of everything. Which is why transmission fluid is useable for a longer period of time than motor oil.
I'm convinced that if I had left it alone it would have been fine. Ask people who drive similar cars where they get theirs serviced. Definitive transmission diagnosis needs to include line pressure data and function testing. But that very well may have been the only transmission fluid change that tranny has ever seen. I also didn't get any action acted like neutral until I disconnected the sensor going to the transmission on the passenger side. And the belt looks just fine to me, no wear showing but again, same dude, said a serpentine belt should be changed every 60,000 miles and the one on the car is original from factory.
Ive done the pan on my gm 4T60-E at 110k, then at about 140k I did a full flush, agaisnt warnings because I was having issues. I took it to JiffyLube to have the oil changed after putting 7192 miles on it, I know I should have done it sooner. I can add a link ic you are not familiar with the sound I described in previous posting. Friend TimtheMan, you got taken to the cleaners. I believe this to be the Transmission Fluid pump. From what I can tell it was never changed, the fluid is brown like the engine oil, it does not smell and it shifts fine.
The reason for this is that there are a slew of different dipstick tubes that may be used with that transmission. Definitely keep an eye on the fluid level as it may go down several times. Yeah everything you said makes perfect sense. So you really need to keep checking the fluid level and it may be a little rough until it is full of fluid. So if the tranny has problems that are being mask then new fluid will hasten the need to repair. That is why I send you to a trans guy they have a lot more experience than us mechanics cause they do it all the time.
Over time the additive pack wears out and normal tranny wear adds particles. Youtube had a video of itand its 100% the exact same noise mine is making and it makes it only in first just like mine. Thank you completely and sincerely in advance for any help given. Which is weird now that I think about it because the po has a record and told me when I bought it that the trans fluid filter were changed at 101000m and its at 126600 now with no discoloration or burning visable at the dip stick. I know someone who works on highway patrol crown vics. Car has 126,000 miles and 3900 engine idle hours.
