The engine requires three quarts of oil, the tranny takes 20-24 ounces of oil. If it does have a dipstick, look on the stick for directions. Good Luck Steve Posted on Sep 03, 2010 Here goes! Posted on Feb 24, 2010 No, you add fluid in the same hole the check stick is located. There the question repeated again! Fluid checks for these transmissions does require removal of a bolt to access the fluid level dipstick. If you still cannot see it, it may be possible that it is missing. I think this would be a last resort though. Do you have any recommendations for my situation.
Your car must be level when the fluid is checked and we therefore recommend having a mechanic with a hydraulic lift or underground bay check your transmission fluid. Don't forget to put it back when you are done. I know it seems complicated but it isn't as bad as it sounds. Care must be taken line the holes up with the bolts. Look around the passenger side of the engine back by the firewall the wall between the engine and the interior of the car.
The only way to add the proper amount of fluid is to follow the procedure completely. Since the lines connected to your radiator I assume you have an automatic since manual transmissions normally do not. On this vehicle the dipstick was yellow. It's near the axle on the underside where the tranny wraps around the back of the engine. The engine oil drain is the one that is closest to the left front corner of the oil pan. I'm not sure where that leaves me. You need an owner's manual for the maintenance schedule and for questions just like this.
The drain plug is located on the passengers side of the transmission, just behind where the axle connects to the transmission. The cabin air filter is tasked to eliminate almost all of the airborne elements that come with the air that enters the passenger compartment. Keep the oil level between these two marks and do not overfill. Note: the vehicle must be kept level when checking the transmission fluid level. They are behind the engine and usually accessible from underneath.
Swap out your old transmission components with new Chevrolet Equinox automatic transmission parts from AutoZone to preserve your vehicle's performance and life. Don't remove it unless the engine is running or you'll start losing fluid. A shop would then lift the vehicle to access the fluid check plug. I hope this helps and good luck! Ask him or her , something like. Requires reprogramming when valve bodies are replaced. If not add about four ounces at a time.
Jun 18, 2011 I am unfamiliar with exact car, however, It is not unusual for transmission oil to be put in via the the transmission dip stick tube - do not confuse it with the engine oil dip stick tube. Depress brake pedal and move shift lever slowly through all gear ranges from park P to low liter , pausing for about three seconds in each range. Don't have one then get one. It is full when there is nothing running out. If you believe this information does not accurately characterize your car, please. Also, it must be warm. It may not have a dipstick.
The only thing I can think of is putting a jack underneath the transmission and removing the transmission mount. Let the wrench cool down before use. Cars roll off of jacks, ramps and whatever enables mechanics to get underneath. You will nedd to use a funnel. These types of transmissions are designed to be maintenance free. The assine engineers that planned this one should be shot.
Checking the tranmissiong fluid is just like checking oil. The fluid level should be at the bottom of the check hole. When the trans starts feeling like it's not shifting the way it should, I put … in a half quart and it seems to work. There is a cap on the trans that screws of but no dip stick. Install the fluid level indicator. As for what lubricants to use, I always use nothing but Harley-Davidson oil.
My question is will this work and not damage the the transmission? There are two marks on the dipstick. It should be in the owners manuyal. This amount is subject to change until you make payment. More and more vehicles are now equipped with cabin air filters, but what exactly is a cabin air filter? Do not overfill as this can damage seals. Now I have to wait till they service it at the dealer. Check the fluid level accordint to instructions in the … owners manual.
If so then the engineers did a horrible job. On my truck the bolts are rusted and seized, I tried copious amounts of penetrating oil to no avail. You could check your owners manual to verify the recommended procedure. So, my question is how do I got about loosening this bolt and getting this fluid in there? Pull out your tranny dipstick when running and check level of tranny fluid. When found … pull out and check levels. The 2002 Chevy Cavalier has a sealed transmission.
