Most of the styling touch-up lies in subtle details, but in our view they add character to this luxury sedan. The 2008 tweaks start in front, where the headlight covers are now completely clear, with chrome surrounds highlighting individual lights inside. Clean and clear title in hand. From a functional view point, it's an effective design.
In the end, it feels more athletic than it has a right to and comes off feeling like a smaller 3 Series. We'd call them an improvement. The result is one of the most fastidiously maintained and exceptionally clean 535XiTs on the market. The classic straight six delivers a balance of smoothness, torque, and response that V6 engines can't seem to match. In short order, these knobs will become the 5 Series driver's best friends.
