Bushes in sway bar lubed, squeak eliminated. Front and rear sway bar bushings needed replacing. Front Lower control arm bushings reported by dealer as needing replacement. Only got 25,000 miles on these ones. It is possible that the struts are bottoming out. Shop found broken rear shock, and replaced bushings. The passenger one was shot probably 70000km ago. Took the vehicle back this morning, with a new problem of the check engine light being on and the rear end always making this noise. If you don't have a vice like me, you'll have use something like pipe pliers to hold on to the rod and unscrew the nut. Also discovered blown rear shocks when at dealer to replace transmission - but these were under warranty from my local shop; brought car there for replacement.

Recently, I have noticed a similar clanging sound coming from the back of the vehicle. Solved creaking suspension problem that previous repair replace control arms did not. Took it to a local garage, and was told it was not out of alignment. With the wheel off, you can reach the bolt without getting under the car. As far as difficulty goes, it's on the level of brake pad replacement. Here is a couple of picture of the broken mount, it seems that there has been a crack on the right side for a while by the look of the corrosion. The nice thing about these cars, if they're not too rusty is the bolts are relatively straight forward to remove yourself. I took it to a couple of mechanics, and they said that the rear sway bar links needed to be replaced, and showed me how they were loose and had some give in them. Left rear spring could be broken as well.
