Annoying beyond belief, unsafe, too. Thanks guys, Hopefully its battery, I will test the voltage and errors with the Gap tool. It will not hurt the car to drive it like this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear. Each time it does this it uses some battery power. It could also be a malfunctioning computer chip.
I know how frustrating these faults are, and I attribute it to the sophistication of the systems. I have offered them suggestions, ideas, hypotheses, and recommendations. If you have a trickle charger, try putting that on overnight occasionally to bring it up to full. All software patches installed were installed and faults occured immediately after as tech drove it into the carwash. My heart skips for a second and praying hard not to breakdown on the middle of the freeway.
There is no guarantee in our opinion that this will not happen again and if it does this seriously poses a threat of life or risk of injury not only to me, my spouse, but also to my children, or others on the road. I turned the car on and off and the Errors cleared but the Transmission Fault error remained. . Took to the dealer, and they have not been able to duplicate the problem. Hope these can help someone with same prob. I must add, I trust this dealer and tech. Then start the truck and check the voltage again.
Most of the time, stopping for a couple of minutes, especially taking the key out of the ignition so that the computer fully shuts down after a couple of minutes, will at least, temporarily solve the problem. For a charger, I use a Noco Genius 26000. This will reset the system and can get rid of the fault codes. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. Reset transmission adaptions perform addaptive drive cycle. Ideally you should be seeing 12. I was thinking it was some sort of transmisison fluid thing, but it is a battery voltage thing--the more you drive it the higher the voltage and the less frequent the fault happens.
Basically each has it's own preferences. The transmission will default to max line pressure. That was causing all my problems. I thought it was just a bad battery. If it's battery then what is the best battery to replace? Ron My guess and Alex's guess is the same. The logistics seem tough, but I'm thinking maybe I can have a Cannon Plug installed in the grill so I can plug a trickle charger in without having to leave the hood up.
Getting estimates at this time to see if worth repairing or selling. Would have been done at same time as transmission, but not in stock. Also did this in reverse. That sounds a lot like what you were describing earlier. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below. If they have the same result go with the lower bid or ask if they can be the lower bid. The transmission is then reassembled and tested again! Looking for your expert advice and where to start looking.
Coffee spilled on your shifter is the cause Also keep in mind since you got Interstate and its only been two years, its under warranty still. A search on the internet brought up loads of potential problems. It sounds like your alternator is providing power but not keeping up with load when you have a heavy demand like the lights so the voltage in the system is dropping and causing weird things to happen. It will not hurt the car to drive it like this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear. If you really want to get the most out of a given battery you'd look at the specs from the manufacturer and run a programmable regulator set to those specs. I've covered it before if you want to search around. You may just have system failure and reconnecting the positive battery connector can resolve the problem.
Adaptive cruise control was available for the Supercharged edition. When all is said and done, it is no wonder that in the wilds of Africa, they still prefer the Defenders, with all their mechanical stuff, which is actually easier to fix than the electronics! I think it's a group 34 'blue top' - meaning a deep cycle. The transmission will default to max line pressure. It has stalled out a couple of times coming out around a corner. They've changed it a bit since I bought mine a few years ago but this is the current version. It was a great weekend in Yosemite with friends and this happened while coming back home. Reminds me that I have a 2.
Posted on Dec 08, 2010 This tiptronic is a computer controlled transmission with a computer module for the transmission it holds the transmission in sport mode or regular driving modes if when in first gear there will be now shifts occur your in first just like a manual trans with out a clutch you should be able to shift to other gears in this transmission i. Anything else over 2 years and under 5 Years is a way better pro rated price. Time to take my two boys to school. A generic scanner like the ones they use at Auto Zone will not do the trick in this case. I also noticed the odometer was not clicking off miles during this leisurley ride!! Then consumer pulled over, and put the car was in park. Then something weird i thought and turned of the lights and wow the transmission works fine. I am guessing some coffee spilled inside the shifter and maybe into the wiring; could this be the cause of the problem? Took my handy volt meter from the glove box, measured the v on the battery, and it showed 12.
