Been over to Bristol and Cardiff today and not a hint of the 'click' and starting first time so fingers crossed! And it does get used offroad a bit and is amazing what is can do. If engine won't start, repeat 1 again. These were the exact problems the recall claimed it would fix. New engine was put in. I did a bit of research and the answer turned out to be in the owners Manual.
Problems with headgaskets primarily relates to early Freelander 1 1. It will do this a number of times, and I have taken the key out and re-docked it and all sorts and eventually it has started. This time they said that they had found a fault with the throttle body and that that was the reason for the lack of power. The problems started about 2 months after buying it when the power steering pump failed. We cannot be the only ones. Press the start button without press the brake pedal.
The engine light illuminated and different componets were replaced to try and rectify the problem. Any legal action you take as a buyer is against the seller, not the manufacturer. The Freelander was serviced by Landrover last yr, would they not have checked it for updates? Any work carried out in this time has a 1 year warranty, or until the end of the manufacturers warranty expires. I doubt they would sell another vehicle. They started suddenly, I have had the car for 2 years and no issues until about a month ago. I am at my wits end as to what to do. I again was not impressed by the service.
Not sure what they will do to try and fix that issue. The brain for the cruise control went out. Glad to hear the other issues are sorted Jaguar x-type sport gone Jaguar x-type 2. Warning lights complete with warning bleeps started coming on and going off randomly. My dealer has suggested that there might be debris in the system somewhere causing the fourth pump to have failed? I got the following warning messages appear in the digital display panel. It wouldnt hurt to have a compression test done too.
There are plenty of these issues if you google the problem. Fair enough my dealer put his hands up and said its a known fault. This is why you may notice that parked on a hill or with sudden stops you car shows a little more or less fuel and then settles. Barring the rear diff problems some have, they have been pretty trouble free. And have the timing checked. With constantly failing pumps due to a reservoir fault there is probably swarf and crap in the system now and this will need to be flushed through. The benefits of transverse fitment include improved interior packaging and safety performance.
Mine had the same problem 3 years ago. I told them that it hadn't caused a problem for the last 5 years and that I'll leave it for now. The downhill decent light comes on with the traction control light for no reason. I have written to Landrover when pump 3 went wrong and they offered me a free service big deal! Our Reviews Every review covers all the variants and editions within the model range and provides high quality photographs. I wonder why nothing has been done already with all the complaints that have been filed.
I am a vehicle engineer and have looked into the cause of the pump failure and it would appear that the faults stems from the filter which is part and parcel of the the fluid resevoir. Other features and options include: keyless starter button, bi-xenon headlamps, adaptive front lighting, rain-sensing wipers and rear park distance control. They plugged it into their computer and ran the diagnostics again. I have the original pump but 3 resevoirs. I'm by no means a mechanic and only have basic tools only need a small selection of sockets and spanners and tool me just over two hours. He checked all connections and wiring under the bonnet and the wiring runs to the central control junction located in the passenger footwell and the engine control module for signs of corrosion, couldn't find any. We are worried that the car will continue to break down the longer we have it and we don't know what to do.
Even the service manager at the dealership that services my car admitted he wouldn't by one either. Also, the car never has this problem when I'm leaving home, it's always happening to me when I drive further away, maybe just coincidence but I have no idea. A few months later on my honeymoon in Cornwall driving through a town I suddenly had no power steering, pump number 3 had failed! Starter motor back on and it started first time. This arm connects to a switch which increases and decreases resistance in the circuit. Service guy at dealership claims they are replacing these motors every year or so.
Otherwise, it won't start no matter how many time I press the start button. When we passed the 50,000 mileage mark the car started to fall apart rapidly. It had a Software update, turbo, 4 new injectors amongst other things. A new one being around £300 it's a long shot if that doesn't work! Now, if the gauge has been reading this way since the car was brand new, the other likely cause is that the needle may have been improperly placed on the gauge at the factory, or the windings in the gauge may be under or over wound causing the inaccurate reading. We heard strange noises coming from engine , and the car had trouble accelerating.
