Your Volkswagen Jetta stands alone in its class because of its European styling and excellent performance. Do you know why the last starter was replaced? Also discovered many others with this exact same problem who had to have their ignition switches replaced, so this is a known problem with Volkswagen.
The battery was replaced and the dealership could not tell what was wrong with the car. I believe I have paid for something that should be covered under a recall or extended warranty. I can not drive this vehicle because it will not start if turned off. Car sitting in garage with battery disconnected. No issues starting the car during warmer weather. Still an occasional issue with starting the car in really cold temps.
Measured a 2A continuous drain on the battery with all systems shutdown but they told me battery was bad! I would guess if there is a problem with the ignition switch, all of the dashlights and what not would not come on like they do during any normal start and the key would not turn or no lights would light up at all. This is the best buy money can buy for performance battery. He did testing and work on my car and told me the battery is not the greatest. It died about 10 weeks ago and the battery started draining 6 weeks after that. Currently cannot afford an alternator, so I hope that is not necessary.

Vinyl strap resists battery acid and will not conduct electricity. Voa gave me a claim number and want me to take it to a dealer which is ridiculous because I will be charged diagnostics and will not be covered as it is a luxury item. Just spray on and rinse off. Battery is strong, starter is new, car is garaged. The one that might be a safety factor is the micro switches in the door latches. Buy Nissan, Toyota or even Ford.
The vehicle was taken to a independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed but the technician could not find the failure. Took it back they did something that they were not clear on and told me I needed a new battery so 90- bucks later I leave with a new battery and the next day it is not fixed. I asked for part number, year, make of battery etc. If a heavy duty battery, can be up to 5 years. Other than junking it of course!! I bought 2 of these batteries for our Passats, and I am very happy with it's performance in hot or cold weather. The radio stopped working about a year ago, then the battery kept dying. They keep wanting more money to diagnose.
