Has anyone made any headway on figuring this mess out? I havn't noticed as of yet a voltage spike from the battery preceding the failures. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph and noticed the instrument panel led light failed to illuminate. I think the fuse is in the engine compartment fuse box but your owners manual would tell you for sure. Well, I just finished up the project. Advised not to drive vehicle. I have the same problem Windows quit working gauges go into spasms it all seems to start right after my brake light on the dash flickers and then I lose almost everything in the cab heater still works any thoughts? Sometimes there is no speedometer, ac, engine temperature, cruise control, oil pressure, fan, defrost. I've read the threads on how to fix the issue, however, everything I've found is for 2004 or older models.
Apart from that I would also check the fuse box. No odometer reading at all now. Lets say I rolled the window down while things are working properly then the intermittent problem occurs. Does someone have to die for them to issue a recall on these? But sometimes it will take hours to revive itself and I'm stuck with the window down. The contact removed the key from the ignition and was able to extinguish the small fire.
Each is a unique shape. The wire going from the fuse to the instrument cluster is red and yellow and the wire between the cluster and the alternator is lite green and red. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rear lights needed to be replaced and that there was an electrical failure. The contact owns a 2006 Ford F150. Had a mechanic work on it for more than 3 weeks looking all with no luck in finding reason.
However, while I had it out, I twisted a couple of the light sockets behind the fuel and oil pressure gage, now the lights are out in those two spots. I haven't even re-tried the window because we're in the middle of a cold snap and don't want the window to stay down. The contact asked the dealer prior to purchasing the vehicle if there were any related recalls and was advised that there were none. It will be coming off. The manufacturer was not notified. Pulled all relays and connections under hood and added some anti-corrosion paste to all connections. I kept pressing until I got to the next civilized town during daylight.
This was a very expensive experience and I feel like Ford should know about this and correct the error because this part should not go out on a Super Duty truck like this. On two prior occasions during an oil change the dealer indicated the incorrect mileage. Lots of people have had this problem including me, I haven't found any sure shot cure. It has, a few times the windows, map light and radio not come on after starting. Rolled down driver side window then gauges, radio and fan blower stopped working, and couldn't get window back up.
I can then roll them back up. Advised not to drive vehicle. Ejectors, glow plugs and counting. I'll keep update and would appreciate any feedback. While driving vehicle dash controls, windows, radio all shut off and turn back on occasionally. It's been doing this for a couple of years, and I've taken it to the dealership, since it's still under warranty, however they were not able to find the problem since they were not able to witness the lighting go off and on. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
I cut the corroded section out and put on a new battery terminal. Came back to the truck and smoke was rolling out of the dash vents, right rear passenger side of the hood was burning the paint, then flames came out from uner the hood. These include Ford Expedition, Ford Bronco, Ford Escape, Ford Explorer, Ford Lincoln Continental and many more. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000. It's hard to better our offer of free shipping both ways when your order your Ford Instrument cluster from us. Along with gauges and radio all together It also effects the glove compartment light and the two manual switches on side lights located on the roof of the cab. All of those things you mentioned are controlled by the delayed accessory relay.
Sometimes like today they go on and off continually for varying period of time not to say tho that the windows operate by themselves without the switch being depressed. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the instrument cluster would need to be replaced. Nothing else that I know of. They lose voltage and make injectors not work, which shuts off the vehicle.
