Here we are a month later and still blowing warm air and haven't had to replace any more coolant. I mean the blower assembly and the mixing box often come out first because the seams overlap. I bought mine new, and Nissan told me to screw at 70K.
At this point the noise in the vehicle was so loud and annoying that your ears hurt after 5 mins. Top up with very warm coolant and wait as it may do it again. The drain hose was clogged and the condensation couldn't escape as it was supposed … to. This solved my leak problem. My guess is that your problem was that you had very little heat or no heat at idle. Hope this works for you, and I hope I can figure out my rear heater problem as well. Anyway, this did not immediately solve the problem, still blowing cold air as it sat there idling after 15 minutes. If the water smells or taste sweet, it is coolant. The plastic cover that starts at the take up slot and goes all the way to the floor can be popped out to gain access to the seat belt take up. Now you can turn the bulb socket a quarter turn remove the bulb. It is located on the right side of the fire wall in the engine compartment sitting in the car the right side standing facing the car left side of the fire wall.

I'd estimate that the entire job would take a full day. We have been cutting out the rotted sections and replacing them with rubber lines. Well, I don't have the same car, but you often have to remove the other parts to get to the box for the heater core. But I think I solved the front heat problem myself. Personally I think your issue isn't really with Nissan but with the dealerships that you have been dealing with.
The only special tool I required was a T50 Torx security bit - to detach the passenger side airbag mounting bolts. But I think I solved the front heat problem myself. Open the hatch and stand under it. When engine reaches operating temperature watch and listen near coolant filler, keep clear as gurgling and hopefully a boil over should occur. As far as my wife knows, I fixed the problem for the price of a bottle of coolant, so I am a hero. It may take a little tugging to get the hose off ,as some of them are quite stubborn, after you get the hose off, blow compressed air down the hose, the re-install the hose.
. The drive shafts went, not u-joints. Having a working heater and functional defrost for like driving in the rain and on cold mornings and nights are important features for a daily driver. You may have to open up more of your interior to access the firewall filling fluff and stuff. If the hosing is smashed that the bracket is bolted onto you will need to take it to shop to have repaired. You'll then pull the heater core out into the interior. This is apparently the first time, the dealership i went to, seen the problem with so low of mileage.

But I thought I'd look to see what it takes to actually replace the heater core. What a complete disaster, I would feel guilty selling this to someone, I will have to drive it into the ground, or burn it. The heater core box would have some bolts to the chassis, maybe 4 or 5 to remove. A clogged drain hose means water is trapped as well as leaking into your car. Add that to the 1500 I ahve spent and the 1200 to fix the paint chips on the front of the thing, and I have a boat! The arrow should face upwards.
