The contact was told by the dealer that the instrument cluster was failing. Goes out of whack, never know how fast your going. It corrected it self and for a couple days it was fine again. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the odometer and fuel level gauge failed. After seeing that this is a very common issue with these models and others that did have a recall I felt it was my duty to file this complaint.
The contact stated that the instrument panel malfunctioned. After the inspection was complete, I was informed that due to the amount of mileage, slightly pass 67k when I contacted them and at the time they were informed that my extended warranty had expired, I was informed that there was nothing they could do about it. I tried to stay with the flow of traffic but had no idea how fast I was really going. Put a new battery in, changed the alternator and it continues to do this. I went to the chevrolet dealership and they informed me it was the electrical cluster and even though there were many complaints, chevrolet would not pay for it.
Losing a tail light not only creates a safety concern for traffic but creates issues with law enforcement as well. In order to get in running again, I have to open the fuse box where ever I am able to pull over, usually on a highway and push up onto one of the fuses. These things happen when vehicle is either moving, or not moving in park. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 58,584. Now my oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge are going out as well.
My check engine light came on while I was driving and the ac stopped working, it was diagnosed as the ac fan blower. While driving various speeds, the contact noticed that the speedometer would fail intermittently and the oil gauge failed completely and would not provide a reading. The speed will not operate at times and occasionally if the vehicle is restarted the speedometer will correct itself. Now my liftgate will not lock at all. Included are speedometer, tachometer, and gas gauge. I travel alone most of the time and with the uncertainty of the gas, it is always a frightening experience.
When I began accelerating I noticed the speedometer was no longer accurately reading my speed. There are sporadic fluctuations of the needle, but gauge is no longer reliable for determining fuel level in the vehicle. The vehicle was able to restart and the headlights resumed to normal operation. I have taken the vehicle to the shop several times and have been told that it is the instrument panel. . The speedometer issue is incredibly unsafe, as you have no way to know your true speed.
The stereo repeatedly jams with new cd's even. This is yet another common issue with 03-06 Silverados. Left there they drove it cut off once. There are two ways to accomplish this. Gas gauge and speedometer both stopped working about two years ago. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance.
I was doing over 100 mph before I realized the speedometer wasn't reading correctly it said 72 mph. It's an annoyance but could potentially lead to other electrical issues and enormous costs. I share this because I've been battleing with Chevy for over 8 months now. The doors lock automatically and sometimes won't unlock if they were locked when the car was turned off until the car is turned on again. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. Is the new part going to do the same? The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and agreed to cover the repair cost for the instrument cluster. There are no screws holding inplace.
It starts up at the mechanics. They happen both city driving, and highway as well. The contact stated that all of the gauges on the instrument panel malfunctioned. Why was the Trailblazer not included when they exhibit the same problem with instrument cluster failures. My Brother used Dr Speedometer a year ago and was singing his praises to me, so now I guess he and I will be singing a duet! I have encountered a problem with the speedometer not working properly or not working at all in some cases. Fluid may enter the driver's door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board.
Complaint Number: 10436034 Incident Date: June 9, 2011 Date Added to File: November 16, 2011 Description of the Complaint: My speedometer all of a sudden jumped to over 70mph when I was only going about 30mph. When I had to leave again to run errands the fuel gauge would move, however, it would go back down to empty when I was stopped or put the car in park. After checking for recalls I see now there have been alot of complaints with this issue in the same year vehicle but no recalls. Once the joint or component has failed power to the digital displays is lost causing a dead display or power is reduced causing a dim display. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, all the gauges on the instrument cluster failed. Managed to get off road and vehicle would not start. So I work backwards, when my low fuel light goes off, I fill my gas tank and monitor the miles I have driven.
I have no idea how fast I am going and how much gas I have left in my tank. In 2011 the vehicle would have a rough idle and stall in traffic. I did not slam on my brakes and I did not go over any bumps that would jar the vehicle. More of My Trailblazer Speedometer Links and Info. This just pisses me off because they know it is a common problem, but don't want to fix it. In addition, the fuel gauge and odometer displayed inaccurate readings while driving. The cost to replace these switches is quite significant and have not had any luck with chevrolet in the past with complaints so I figured I would wait until I had a little extra money to replace these switches.
