As a customer you would have a very difficult time diagnosing or noticing a water pump pulley failing before it would be too late I'm talking about the water pump locking up, pulley bearing growling severely, ect; not a leak. As for the specifics of what else they did, I am not certain. You you provide us with some more information? They replaced my engine and said it was good to go.
The engine is under warranty, but they are claiming this doesn't have anything to do with their work, but it is just a bad luck sort of thing. I am not a mechanic and just need to clarify what happened. I am going to contact Toyota headquarters to see if I can get some regular maintenance rules for replacing the water pump, etc. Last May, the Toyota service department changed the oil and one week later my engine seized. The service department says no, but I don't trust them further than I can throw them. Demand them pay a different one and have the engine replaced there. I just wanted to reach out to an avid fanbase and hear what tires you swear by. If it has to do with their labor, I want the new engine warranty to cover it and not my warranty. The timing belt is supposed to be replaced at 90k or 7 maybe 8 years. This time, I was told they only put new engines in.

I am pretty sure that these timing belts are to be replaced at 7 years or 100k miles, which ever comes first, for you it was 7 years. I was told at that time May that they don't put new engines in old vehicles, only refurbished ones. My question is could this second occurrence be due to poor labor in replacing the first engine? Dealers usually recommend to replace the water pump with the bearings, tensioners, etc with the timing belt because it already all apart. . . . .
