The hazard switch failed, the windshield wiper would stick intermittently. This is to be expected if it is an older Nissan, but even newer Nissans can suffer from a low-end factory installed radio. Listen for sound distortion when you turn the volume up to at least 50 percent of maximum volume. Good luck and let me know how it goes. The dealer special order a new radio. I had taken this to the dealer before at around 48k and they said they couldn't replicate the problem and I should bring it in sometime while it was doing it. About 30 seconds after this happened I started to smell burning, and there was smoke coming out of the tape deck.
The interior is kinda crammed in the back and the seats are pretty stiff but besides that, the car is great. Listen for intermittent sound cutout. The dealer stated that the shifter was too tight and they loosened the shifter on two occasions; however, the failure continued. Car consumes oil at a rapid rate of 2 quarts per 1200 miles. The seats stain easily, and pretty much all of the plastic cubbies are broken. Sure I've done some maintenance over the years but nothing extraordinary considering the mileage. They're held on by metal clips and the wire connector for the hazard flashers unplug it and put it aside.
The 2000 quest has a ford radio in it. I have been experiening the same problem. I got nervous I damaged my car but there were no scratched or anything. This is my fourth Nissan and I love the way they drive - is the company really willing to lose a customer over a display? I love the car, but wow are these radios junk. The dealer stated that the transmission shifter caused the failure. It's been almost 2 yrs since I owned the b15 2000-06 sentra.
I think these radios are possessed. From that day on the radio wont turn off either when pressing the turn off button. Also, that Nissan seemed to be ignoring or denying the problem. The dealership said they think it is the speakers but want to take the car apart to make sure. Symptoms that I have, lead to possible engine fire and is being addressed with a recall. It also can mean the speaker cone may have ripped. There should be bulbs in the back of it.
I now have run up over 350,000 miles off course a rebuilt engine in place. The gauges didn't warn me of any problems before hand. None of the audio controls work and the display is blank. The tuner would scan and not stop on any stations - the cd player would work like it was playing, but no sound. The car drives as if it was a sports car on the highway. Strange radio - when it was not operating: 1. Overall I say it is a great car to have.
Right now i have 205K miles on it. This car is great on gas and it really helps my pocket since I drive alot. Even though its a 1. The inside door handle was loose. One owner - 142,000 miles. I have a 2004 Nissan Quest and I am looking for any info regarding my stereo. I have 2005 Quest 3.
Use of the wiring information is at your own risk. There are 2 torx screws on the top of the radio and 2 more on the bottom of the ac control. When I got home I checked out my care everything was fine, but I get no sound from the radio, or cd player. I sat the car in the sun and then drove it over - the repair manager told me there wasn't anyone there to look at a Nissan- he finally came out and said the problem is the display gets hot and suggested I put a piece of cardboard in my window when not driving. Chances are the bulbs should be inside of it. It seems like a lot of people have had the similar problem, Nissan should recall the stereos! The dealer replaced all wheels per a safety campaign.
I took the car for regular services, always on time for oil changes. If you suspect that signal strength is not the issue, you may have a faulty antenna wire. Listen for a humming sound coming through the audio system while the car is running. I've had it for a year when it started squealing under the hood, it also would shake for at least 5 minutes everytime I started it in the morning. Am really scared if something goes crazy with the car whilr driving. It will eventually usually hours later start to work again. Only major problem I had was the fuel pump which caused the car to struggle to start, but once I changed it, never had another problem since.
The engine is very reliable, there are plenty of cars with 200k on them. The number one most common problem is related to the vehicle's engine and engine cooling with 85 problems. The car no longer has warranty and I don't have the money for a new engine at this point in time. You can fix this by having a 12v noise filter installed between the Nissan's battery and the amplifier inside the radio head unit. Because the radio system's wiring harness can get quite complex, you probably will have to have this serviced by a qualified mechanic.
