In the connector itself you have 2 powers coming in and 1 ground. Tried new wiring harness in back of cluster. Not a great solution but it works. At the back of the cluster you have your connector. So lets start from the Beginning and work our way through it. We can repair most clusters with total power loss.
It's supposed to rain here all day tomorrow and don't have garage. Did try to locate the G103 but couldn't find it, will have a better look tomorrow. In the connector itself you have 2 powers coming in and 1 ground. If you have an 03-06 1500, then they can also install a factory tranny temp gauge during the rebuild. The purchase date was unknown.
They are crazy expensive at the dealer. I have had this problem fixed once by warranty but it has returned again. For single gauges or full cluster repair or upgrades , tachometer, fuel gauge, oil temp, water temp and battery voltage, we take care of it all and for less than half of what most dealerships charge. But I have run into it being broken a lot. Directionals will work and backlighting works.
This will eliminate the need to keep the vehicle overnight. When you turn the truck on, does all the light check engine and all come on? I did check the G203 when i had taken the dash apart I got a wrench on it and tightened the nut but did not do a continuity test to the battery negative terminal. So check between Terminal B11 to B12. Thank you very much again! Need to fix this problem. It's supposed to rain here all day tomorrow and don't have garage.
Got at the cluster connector and found out that my trucks is a little different. I won't ever own another! If it lights the bulb good and bright let me know so we can continue further with testing. General Motors has a letter of intent on the instrument panel, but because the vehicle has exceeded the 70,000 miles specified in the letter, the contact was denied the repair. Unfortunately I had replaced my cluster with two other clusters from vehicles that had working clusters and I had the same issue so I think the problem is in the wiring somewhere. The vehicle was not repaired at that time and has since worsened.
After a few days it started working normally again until last night. One ground is G103, the other ground is G100 and the last ground is G203. None of the guages work. So lets start from the Beginning and work our way through it. Good to know I can get one rebuilt. The failure recurred on numerous occasions.
I did check the G203 when i had taken the dash apart I got a wrench on it and tightened the nut but did not do a continuity test to the battery negative terminal. If it can't power the system fully it doesn't help us. Thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly. The purchase date was unknown. It should be visible from the lower corner of the windshield.
I also have a clunk in the steering wheel when turning. The first time this happened, I was driving in heavy rain. If it does go from B9 to B12 and test in in key position Start and Run. In less than a week, I received it back and it has been working great so far. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
All Sierra models — 1500, 2500, and 3500; Duramax, 4. The failure mileage was 38,892. It's just the guages that aren't working Ok. I have the exactly the same issue with my 1999 Sierra I have been working on it off and on for two weeks now. This is a huge safety concern for me. Just throwing this out there as an option that I have done. The vehicle was under warranty, but the dealer stated that the failure was not a warranty item.
