We have not fixed this yet due to the cost. The first car I did was a J30! Complaint Number: 10278456 Incident Date: May 14, 2009 Date Added to File: July 27, 2009 Description of the Complaint: My 2003 nissan murano began driving funny. The vehicle is sitting in my driveway, awaiting repairs. This is an issue because it is happening to too many murano's at low mileage. I pull over, turn off the vehicle for about 30 seconds.
This is too dangerous to be ignored. The problem is, I'm usually in traffic when I do this, and the problem resumes about 5-10 minutes later. Murano is unresponsive once auto is slowed from highway speeds to stop-and-go traffic on highway. Complaint Number: 10249672 Incident Date: October 1, 2008 Date Added to File: November 24, 2008 Description of the Complaint: We drive a 2003 nissan murano awd. This video shows you how to add transmission fluid to your 2003 Nissan Murano.
I learned today that this was nonsense. I had exited off the interstate right to a red stoplight. The first indication of trouble was the inability of keeping a set speed while vehicle was set in cruise control. On the way back the same day it no longer had the problem. All I get from Nissan are idiots that have no common sense on the phone.
It goes away for a while after I turn it off, but if the driving conditions are the same, it happens again. Make sure coolant is full to be safe. It happens more frequently in stop and go traffic. Some had problems with in the first thousand miles. I said the vehicle only has around 65,000 miles I've never heard of a 5 year old car needing a new transmission. The nissan dealership rented me a car to get back home from vacation and we will have to drive 350 miles back to pick up my murano in about 3 to 4 days.
I have taken the vehicle to the dealer 4 times over a period of several years to have the problem repaired, but they have either said there is nothing wrong or that it needed a new air filter, but the problem has never been fixed and it continues to get worse. It takes at least 10 seconds for the car the accelerate. The problem is intermittent, when taken to the dealer they could not recreate the problem. Next day, at a stop sign a block away from home. I understand from the dealer that it is a pressure sensor problem that is typical for model that I have.
Learn from my mistake, please. Car had many codes stored so cleared codes and will drive car for a couple days to see if problem repeats and what codes stored 122581 km Several transmission issues including jolting changes from D to R, irregular resistance changes in slow traffic. Complaint Number: 10253282 Incident Date: July 16, 2008 Date Added to File: December 30, 2008 Description of the Complaint: 1. I showed them extended warranty letter from nissan company on all cvt transmission and dealer says that it doesn't cover transfercase seal repair and that I need to pay 1,300 dollars for this. This defect has put my family in many dangerous situations in the past year.
It does this every few weeks for a extended amount of time. There were no clear indications of the event or no warnings or indicator lights. I've removed cradles before, working on the trannys of other front wheel drive cars, so I'm generally familiar with the process. Something needs to be done since I am 100% sure nissan knows about this problem but is ignoring it. After several futile attempts pressing on the gas pedal I put the car in park then back to drive hit the gas but again no acceleration.
Mar 1, 2008 - first trip of the day, from a stop at intersection, accelerated to get onto main highway, we go approx 5 feet and the car slips out of gear and unable to go any further. There seem to be certain things that fix it for a short period of time, and then it returns just a couple of months later. Nissan refused to help in anyway. The car was taken to an independent mechanic who had it for 2 weeks and couldn't fix it. The contact stated that while driving at different speeds he experienced hesitation which as a consequence hinders acceleration. Almost got in a accident. I was anticipating a wonderful experience with this vehicle instead, I inherited a over priced mess.
It just continued to get worse. Complaint Number: 10183312 Incident Date: November 26, 2006 Date Added to File: February 23, 2007 Description of the Complaint: I own a 2003 nissan murano, that is no longer operational due to a faulty transmission. It won't do it when cold, so the nissan dealer can not see the problem. The manufacturer advised that they were unable to provide any assistance. It's been 2 weeks and no leaks!! This car has done this several times and lately this has become an everyday occurrence. The first time the car stoped in the middle of the highway and it would not accelerate. I had the similar problem again a few months ago, and it was worked on and running again.
I purchased the other one and everything is good for a while. Complaint Number: 10234827 Incident Date: February 13, 2008 Date Added to File: July 18, 2008 Description of the Complaint: When in heavy stop and go traffic the car fails to accelerate after about 5 seconds it jerks so you basically drive with one foot on the brakes and the other on the gas very dangerous especially when making a left hand turn this happens about 3-5 time daily. I've owned it for 14 yrs now, have babied it the entire time, and only have 116K miles on it. After pushing on the gas for a couple of seconds, the engine doesn't respond, but then it surges forward at a high rate. She called the manufacturer, but has not received a response. This is a safety issue that should be addressed by the company or the federal agency that governs the quality of a product being sold in this country. Nissan has been developed sophisticated transmissions through years and it is critical that you add the exact type of transmission fluid stipulated by your owner's manual typically in the back of the manual in a section titled Fluid Capacities.
