What a Great truck it was. I noticed a fifty cent size drip on my garage floor. I have had 4 brake lines rust out, gas line rusted out, e-brake cable rusted out, shifter cable that goes on transmission rusted off, frame rusting very badly and I'm still having trouble with the brake lines rusting. It was on the lot for 2 weeks and it sold. Cheaper than oem and the new oems will leak soon too. Posted on Mar 14, 2010.
. It still had the org. First truck that I had that I did not get done. I think I could replace them my self. I almost had a serious accident because of this. Dealer said not part of the Drive train warranty. There could be serious injuries or lost of life due to this problem.
If you didn't damage the hose while removing the crimped part you can get a good quality clamp like the ones for high pressure fuel lines and clamp it like that. Pull the extention housing off the front diff to give you more room. Also did you double check the fuel pump relay under the hood in the relay box,I would start there first. Have parts delivered straight to your home, or find the nearest Advance Auto Parts store to check out our Transmission Oil Cooler Line stock in-person! I saw a similar problem on this site. The dealer advised having the vehicle diagnosed before proceeding with any repairs.
So where in the maintenance manual does it say to inspect steel brake lines? The contact stated the corrosion penetrated the transmission line and caused the fluid leak. Any body replace these before? Upon further inspection, the contact found that the transmission fluid line cooler metal clip was corroded. How much you think the lines would cost? The vehicle was not repaired. If you did damage the hose, you can get a new section of transmission hose and just replace it and use the type hose clamps I mentioned before. I have found it much faster to remove the truck box itself and that way you don't have to drain the tank and it stays stationary while you RandR the pump with less chance of breaking anything.
Trans lines are cheap and the labor isnt too bad. Or you may just be struggling to keep it highway-approved. I have 28,500 miles on this truck!!!!!! My mechanic advised this should never have happen. The failure and current mileages were 52,000. I have much older vehicles and I have never in my history of owning a vehicle had the brake line rust out under my vehicle. No matter the situation, Advance Auto Parts has the Transmission Oil Cooler Line product you desperately need. It looks to me it is coming from the Trans cooler lines.
Going to Sturgis in August pulling a 7x12 inclosed trailer with two touring bikes, don't want to chance a busted trans out west. That seems to me to be the real problem. I had Rusty Jones undercoating on it. I take care of all my cars and trucks and I'm very unhappy with this one.
